Re: Tyrone v Dublin
Interesting thought from Darragh O'Sé in today's I Times. I can see where he's coming from ....
It’s all perception at this stage. I can see Dublin beating Tyrone on Saturday and if Kerry get past Mayo, I can see them beating Dublin in the final. But if Tyrone beat Dublin, I can really see Kerry struggling against them. It’s like heavyweight boxing back in the ’70s. Foreman beat Frazier, Ali beat Foreman, Frazier beat Ali. Ali came back and beat Frazier, but needed maybe the greatest fight of all time to do it. Maybe that’s what Kerry would need to finally get over Tyrone in a final if the two teams make it there.

I know what you are saying Boc, and Coney did pull out of at least one ball last week, but he also played very well. I really have no idea why he was taken off, and assumed he must have been injured. He scored 2 good points, and his catch and turn in midfield started the move for Cavanagh's goal.
I'd definitely play him, and hope that he rises to the occasion. He has lots of physical ability, and his size/mobility combination would definitely give Fitzsimmons (or even O'Carroll) something to think about.
Tyrone have gone some way to reinventing themselves and certainly their style of play by trusting youth - this is not the time to get cold feet.

good point TC - i suppose nows the time to throw him into the Lions Den and see what he's made off!!! I jsut thought he was perhaps a bit fragile and would be an easy target for the Dublin hallions, Fennell and Bastick wouldn't be long leaving their calling card with him if the opportunity arose.
On the other hand Penrose is a game little baxtard and wouldn't be easy put off. Though after 50 minutes of high intensity football the last thing a Dublin defender might want to see is a flying machine like Penrose coming on!!!!!!

Re: Tyrone v Dublin
I'd be greedy and play both of them Boc, bring Penrose in for Tommy McGuigan.
The difference that Coney, Harte, Donnelly, Sean O'Neill and Swift have made to Tyrone has been massive. The performances have improved but, most significantly, the style of play has changed considerably.
Tyrone are now playing a more attacking game than at any time in recent years. The pace added to the side is allowing us to stretch the play and is resulting in many more chances being created. For anyone who hasn't seen Tyrone's last 3 games, look at their scoring:
1-17 (20 pts) v Longford;
2-13 (19 pts) v Armagh;
3-19 (28 pts) v Roscommon.
For Tyrone, to score at least 19 points in each of their last 3 games is significant, as our score tallies have been poor in the last few years. Consider that before this, in our last 32 league and championship matches dating back to the 2008 all ireland final, Tyrone had only scored 19 pts or more on 5 occasions (3 times against Antrim, and once each against Sligo & Dublin). To now do this 3 games in a row shows a real change in emphasis.
Certainly, our defence has suffered a bit as a result of the increased focus on attacking, and we are conceding more, but 3 comfortable victories has justified the new approach.
Tyrone have flaws, and Dublin will present the biggest challenge yet, but we are finally starting to move into a new era with a new style of team. I'm hoping that it continues on Saturday night, and a team selection with pace will go some way to ensuring that.

Food poisoning? Scarlet fever (afraid of Tyrone)? Should we just concentrate on the senior, minor and U21 hurling then mullins?

All Dubs should be searched going into this game to make sure none of them are carrying whistles. Unsporting behavior from the crowd shouldn't be the deciding of the game for a second year in a row. True Dubs shouldn't mind as they won't want Tyrone having an excuse again.

The only thing the Dubs have to fear is fear itself.
And rightly so in my opinion.
Another quarter-final collapse is on the cards.

Re: Tyrone v Dublin
tyrone always have excuses they are poor losers but this is what make s them so competitive , the day when tyrone say it was great to get to the quarter final is the day they are no threat at all anymore . how many teams just were happy to play kerry in the final ? to many tyrone have this edge and its this edge that have got them to win games they should have lost , i just hope the game is a good one saturday

True JS. A lot of teams cheat on the pitch but our lads are too honest - so some of the crowd on the Hill try to even things up ...

No no no!! We have to be mindful of our visitors. Its alright for us in our back gardens but they have further to go. Now its fine motorways all the way to Emyvale but after that its a bit hit and miss. We will send them on their way early ...

Of the decade!!
Given my ailing condition and back problems and the likelihood that my days at Croker are numbered I may well head for the Hill for old times sake.
