Please post up the state of play from club championships from around the country in this thread please

In Clare the quarter finals draw was made last night:
1)Clonlara V Kilmaley
2)Crusheen V Broadford
3)Sixmilebridge v Inagh-Kilnamona
4)Cratloe v Tulla

Semi finals 1 v 2 and 3 v 4. Wide open again this year the four group winners (those named first in each game above) will all be favourites to progress to the semi's, although I would say that three of the four semi's could go either way. although if either Tulla or Broadford were to progress it would be seen as a mild shock.

In Limerick Na Piarsigh are in the final where they will play the winners of the replay between Ahane and Emmets. emmets are a divisional side made up iof junior and intermediate players from the south of the county. Think they made the final against Kilmallock last year.

In Cork there is a novel parining in the final with college side C.I.T facing off against Carrigtwohill in the final. Carrig won the premier intermediate back in 2007 before being dispatched out of the munster intermediate by Clonlara and have been in the relegation play off for two of the last three years at senior level so it has been some turnaround by them.

Tipp have a huge backlog in what is a bloated senior championship containing 34 teams(could be even more) and will do well to have it finished by the end of October.

Haven't a clue what the state of play in Waterford is

Donegal SFC

Final
Glenswilly v St Michaels

_____________________
Donegal did not allow too much flexibility in fixture lists despite what was for us an extended championship run - and then belted out the Q/Fs and S/Fs over the last two weekends

Glenswilly(ciaran Bonner/Murphy/N GAllagher) who beat Eunans in the Q/F - beat a fancied Kilcar team in the sem- 1-7 to 0-7. Kilcar are managed by James mcHugh and supposedly drafted in Rory Gallgher to develop a "mCguinnessesque" fitness focus with defensive attackers like Hegarty and Mchugh as well as PAddy McBrearty.
Very physical encounter with a calediscope of cards distributed.

St Michaels beat Glenfin 1-15 to 0-6 (And before JC asks - it was only a one leg fixture Razz ) to reach their first ever senior final - From memory this team lost an intermediate AI final a few years back adn where a junior team back in my Heyday (early 1990;s) McFadden - Christy toye and The impressive U-21 MCLaughlin being their headline names.

Interesting match up - and clearly some key battles with "non intercounty defenders" marking some high calibre forwards - Very high scoring game on the cards lol!

Granemore vs Crossmaglen.

It is Granemore's first county final and Crossmaglen's millionth.

Crossmaglen destoryed Armagh Harps 6-12 1-6 while Granemore beat Maghery 2-12 2-7.
Crossmaglen annihilated Granemore's second team in a league game 7-20 not that long ago. Crossmaglen have on average scored 3-12 a game and put a weakened side out against Division Two leaders Clann Eireann in the last round of the championship and still hammered them 2-17 to 0-10. Last year Crossmaglen beat Armagh Harps 3-4 to 1-12.

Strange goings on in the Division one Relegation dogfight in Cavan

Drumlane on nine points going into last game but with poor points difference
Killygarry and Cuchalainns with ten each and a healthier score difference than drumlane played each other in the last match

and wonder of all wonders they drew - this ensuring an eleven point tally for each which meant safety regardless of the Drumlane result - (who in any event were beaten)

Up there with the West Germany v Austria match in 1982

We thought last year and early on this year (given league form) that Cavan Gaels dominance might be nearing an end. However it seems they've been saving themselves for the Championship.. Have beaten Kingscourt and Ballinagh with ease and now 1/7 to win the Final v Castlerahan. A foregone conclusion it seems..

At the other end of the table there has been some excitement. Relegation play off between Gowna (Big Dermot's Club) and Lacken ended in a draw (and a brawl) after a 17 year old kicked a 50 metre free to level it up with the final kick of the game. Replay on Saturday and rumblings that McCabe is dusting off the boots for one last time...

Senior Final on this Sunday, Coolera-Standhill v Tourlestrane.

Coolera in their first final since 2005 (when they won their 2nd ever title).
Tourlestane have compete in 3 of the last 4 finals, winning two. They're going for their 10th title, which would tie them with St. Mary's at 2nd in Sligo's all-time.
Coolera were shocking in the league, finishing bottom of Division 1, with only 3 wins from 11 games. Tourlestrane finished 4th with 6 wins.
Both teams had mixed results in the group stages, and both finished 2nd in their respective groups.
Coolera have looked strong in their quarter and semi-final, whilst Tour had a big win in the semi-final against a poor Grange side, followed by a hard-fought 1-point victory after a replay against Eastern Harps (defending Champions) in the semi.
Tourlestrane look to be the stronger team, and certainly have the better players. Eamon O'Hara is definitely out, and rumours abound that David Durkan will be an absentee as well.
Coolera have gotten better with each game, and looked very impressive toppling a highly-fancied Curry team in the semi-final. They don't have the players that Tour do, but will probably be hungrier for it.
Teams met in the league in May, with Coolera coming out on top by one point, and I except a similar result on Sunday, with Coolera winning by a tight margin.

Intermediate Final features my own Drumcliffe-Rosses Point taking on Coolaney-Mullinabreena.
We drew when we met in the League and again in the group stages of the Championship. On both occassions we held 6 points leads with 10 min to go, and on both occassions we took our foot off the pedal and were pegged back.
Won't try to make predicitions on this one! We know we're good enough to win it, it's just a case of going out and proving it.

Here's the low down in the UK for the weekend ahead -

Scottish SFC Final

Dunedin Connolly’s (holders) vs Glasgow Gaels

Dunedin Connolly’s have won the Scottish title for the last 4 years and for 8 out of the last 9 years as well as the British title in 2009, so they are red hot favourites for this years title again against Glasgow.
Verdict - Dunedin Connolly’s

Lancashire SFC Final

John Mitchel's (Liverpool) vs St. Brendans (Manchester)

Brendans produced the shock of the year by knocking out last years British Champions St. Peters but they will have their work cut out if they are to shock the Liverpool side, who still have the backbone of the side that reached the All Ireland Junior Club Final in 2008.
Verdict - Mitchel's

Gloucestershire SFC Final

St. Nick's (Bristol) vs Western Gaels (Bristol) (holders)

Info is very limited on this as there is no county website and the only info i have is from Twitter, but as far as i know this is the first meeting between the sides at this stage with Western Gaels going for title number 19 and St. Nicks going their first. Nicks have lost 4 out of the last 5 finals.
Verdict - Draw (safe option)

Hertfordshire SFC

I know the final is on this weekend, but can't find any information about who is playing in it, will post if/when i find out.

Please add any extra info you may have on these games!

Ballymacnab beat Granemore tonight by 6 points to make senior final. Some development in those two small parishes. Not that long since both were playing junior football, great achievement by both clubs to get so far. Ogs play Cross tomorrow night in what is the final in my opinion. Think the ogs could do it, overpriced at 5-1

Carlow SHC Final next Sunday

Mt Leinster Rangers V Naomh Eoin

Carlow SFC

Tinryland won first semi final tonight beating 2009 champions Rathvilly 0-11 to 0-10, there 1st county final in 20 years.
Second semi tomorrow, defending champions Old Leighlin playing Éire Óg. Would recommend laying on Old Leighlin at 11/10 or the draw at 6/1

Tourlestrane 1-12 Coolera-Strandhill 0-8. The surfers never got going at all, but were in contention up until injury time when a James Leonard goal and two swift points made the scoreline look a little more comprehensive. Tourlestrane deserving Champions.
Have to say it's been a shockingly poor Championship though, better football to be seen in the Intermediate and even the Junior. Can't see Tour doing much in Connacht.
Omens not good for the men in black next year either. No significant new talent breaking through for any sides this year, leaving the county selection looking similar to last year No (training starting in next week or two for them).

Glencar/Manor complete a four-timer in Leitrim comfortably overcoming Ck-on-Shannon (St.Marys) yesterday. Pukey's pal, Clement Cunniffe, came on as a sub for Carrick but his hurling skills were of no advantage.
Glencar/Manor became the third club in the county to do a 4 in a row, emulating Gorvagh (now defunct) in the 1920's and Cloone in the 1940's.
Even the leading club in the rolo of honour, Ballinamore, haven't managed this feat, nor indeed have the legendary Willies....

Not really, lost by 2 points to a side that haven't lost a championship match since 2009, considering we were missing two intercounty hurlers and another key player suspended didn't help. 4 minors started for us yesterday and 12 of the team were 26 or younger (as the three lads we were missing). Management will have to shoulder most of the blame and doubt they will be back next year. Far from the end
