bocerty wrote:The 2nd replay of the Tyrone v Down fixture has been fixed for next Wednesday in the Athletic Grounds Armagh. The match was originally scheduled for this weekend, however following some concerns from Tyrone manager Raymond Munroe about player burnout the Ulster Council have agreed to move the game to next Wednesday.
I am in favour of the move as it was asking too much for these guys who have played 2 games with extra time in both in the space of 7 days, however Munroes comments are a bit strange considering that last night, only 24 hours after Wednesdays game the u21s were put through a fairly intense training session!!!!!
Surely if he was that concerned about burnout the guys would have been given more than 24 hours to recover..............
The result of this re-fixing apparently means that the eventual winners of Ulster will be required to play the AI Semi on the Saturday after playing the final on the Wednesday..

Re: All-Ireland U21 Championship 2011
I personally find it harsh that all the games are on of a wednesday evening. It must take away from the support of the team when alot of people cannot travel to the games.

Jaysus Scoop if I was a Cavan man I'd be happy to get a few games in any C'ship - even if it was 7am on a Monday morning.

i owe Munroe an apology on this one - turns out my source was a tad inaccurate, it turns out the team he seen being put through their paces at a fairly intense pace last Thursday night was in fact the Tyrone minor squad and not the U21s

Tyrone 1-11 Down 1-07 15 minutes left. Hard to see Down coming back now. Beginning to fear for Cavan facing that forward line of Tyrone's..

Terribly dismissive post from the Cavan man here.......Unless I'm wrong, the Farneymen are lurking in the wings....

Tyrone were well out of it JS in the first half and looking down the barrel of a hammering - but a couple of subs and the deployment of Peter Harte on Downs danger man has stemmed the tide and turned the game on its head. Looking grim at one stage but would be all but wrapped up at this stage.

Well aware of the Farney presence Boxty and perhaps should have included a caveat to that effect but I would be hugely surprised if it wasn't Cavan v Tyrone in a fortnight. Given the Corduff escapade this year I would almost rather a crack at them.. (This may be the only time I will ever get the chance to ponder who Cavan will meet in an Ulster final...)

Re: All-Ireland U21 Championship 2011
Tyrone finally made it through to meet the farney men in the semi final. Thankfully there doesn't appear to be any fresh injuries from tonights game. Peter Harte was brilliant tonight and the emergence of Brian McGuigan's youngest brother Shea added a whole new dimension to the Tyrone attack - Another wee gem in the making there - Class act
And no Gortin men on show tonight either

No medals or silverware handed out this evening but there are a few players in this panel that gives us many reasons to be cheerful and hopefully they too will provide us with some great days out in the future
