He rattled Donegal last year in the semi - and made the difference against Kerry who were in effect playing a blanket defence in the final.
In summary the kevin mcs, the darren o sullivans in my view are the key to unlocking a blanket defence
But that has always been the case OMAR. The ability of the man in possession to break the tackle. You have isolated, and correctly so, 2 modern players who arrive on the scene, on the burst and their upper body strength (conditioning) carries them through the gap.
That's the modern game and I can cope with that.
My issue, such as it is, is with McManamon's ability. I feel that he's quite limited, as in context with Darran O'Sullivan as you mention.
There's a release valve to O'Sullivan that I don't see with McManamon. That said, McManamon has earned his plaudits but......

Missed connollys goal earlier, at a quick glance it was 8 or 9 steps, though maybe advantage on the jersey pull ?

Re: Dublin GG News
Ironically Connolly's sending off probably won the game for us. For some reason Dublin just can't bring intensity into a game v Wexford. Don't forget they took us to extra-time in 2010 too. Yesterday was similar to 2011 - goals scored when they were badly needed. We only woke up (incl the Hill) when down to 14. MDMcA made a massive diference too. For the second year in a row Bernard played like a drain - Alan was very poor too. Hopefully thats the bad game out of the system.
In truth Wexford bottled it - or kicked it away. Connolly's red was very stupid - there wasn't much in it but he had to go. He was being needled throughout as were a couple of others - but you have to deal with that - preferrably by troubling the scorekeeper.
Kevin McMenamin has improved hugely - and there is still room for more improvement. He took his goal very coolly and scored a great point from an impossible angle. A couple of the U21a are bedding in well and I'm glad its Meath in the final. We owe them one and if we can't get ourselves up for that one then ......

Connolly probably overstepped the mark once too often. Spell on the sideline is coming his way. Gilroy surely had enough of him by now. Great player though, as I keep saying: he's the best on the Dublin team. But he does silly things.

Worth every penny .....
Kevin Nolan did well to score 2 points - doubling his C'ship tally. The possible upshot of Dermo could be the emergence of Ciaran Kilkenny. Tis an ill wind etc ...

Re: Dublin GG News
Great win for the Dub minors last night - 2-16 to 1-08 against the Lilies with 1-05 for Cormac Costello. Maybe their minors don't put it all in as they may never see a senior team if guys keep moving to the county.
Leinster minor hurling champs again and a football final v Meath. Future looks bright!

Re: Dublin GG News
Great display from the Dub minors again yesterday. Some unbelievable talent coming through in the county at the moment. Delighted to see Cormac Costello putting last year's dual disappointment behind him with 3-4 (3-3 from play) yesterday - a great talent and a great young lad. Conor McHugh is some player too but there are some serious footballers all through the team.

Another All Ireland final for the young hurlers - to be followed by their footballing counterparts I expect. Hope they can win one or two of them this year. Still - great days to be a Dub ....

Worth pointing out however, group of young lads out on the sauce, after winning the Markham Cup, and the after party appears to be a male only event? Harry Potter or no, poor show lads, poor show indeed.

Re: Dublin GG News
The Dublin hurling manager seems to have "lost the head" at the minor final back in his homeland yesterday.
In all fairness, this is most unsavoury carry on and doubtless we'll be hearing nore in due course. I see trouble ahead.......

Re: Dublin GG News
2 big stories in the papers today concerning the Dubs.
The first is that the outstanding Stephen Cluxton is considering retirement from intercounty football, and the other is that Diarmuid Connolly has emerged as the favourite to be named captain for 2013.
It's hard to know which of these would be the bigger blow to their prospects next year, but certainly it's a dark November day for the Metropolitans.

Cluxton story a non-story. Could be the making of Connolly either??? Gavin will change a few things around no doubt - be interesting to see what he does!
