Parouisa wrote:Cluxton story a non-story. Could be the making of Connolly either??? Gavin will change a few things around no doubt - be interesting to see what he does!
I hope, for the Dubs' sake, that the Cluxton story is all a rumour. He's pretty much irreplaceable in the short term.
As for Connolly, I just don't see it Par. Some lads raise their game with the responsibility, but he doesn't strike me as having the personality to cope with added pressure.

Connolly is a clown and it'll be a stupid mistake if he is made Dublin captain. He can't even control his own game, how can he be expected to influence others?

Mossy is away now. Always liked the lad. He was borderline county standard but one of the more likeable duds.

Re: Dublin GG News
Was short of inter county standard but must have been likeable because he got more chances with more managers than any player I can ever remember.
If you haven't go the pace for intercounty you may get away with it by being a deadly place kicker. Mossy missed far too many to be allowed this latitude.
Nice bloke though.

Big Fennell gone from the squad - cant say i am surprised, only surprised Gilroy didnt do it long ago. More of a liability than a footballer.
McConnell gone too - cleary Jim has thought about this long before taking the reigns

is the reason he has been dropped from the panel or is it purely on his lack of footballing ability?????????

Parnells, once the club of the late CJ Haughey seem to be finding the going tough at the moment.
There's so much laughable stuff in this article it's hard to know where to start but once you spot The Mort's name you're up and running.

Thanks for posting Boxty. That's absolutely mad and if I were a member of that club I'd be raging that the identity of the GAA club is apparently being lost in the commercial focus. The expenses are crazy - more than most IC teams I'm sure.

absolutely unreal, the amounts of money being used or wasted to run teams is incredible. Be careful what you wish for springs to mind.

Land ain't cheap round these parts ... and if I wanted to win some silverware the last place I'd go looking for players would be Laois ... or Mayo ...
Good start for the Dubs playing some nice direct football and racking up 3-13. Connolly hit 1-02 as did Robbie McCarthy. Minor star Eric Lowndes played in a solid half back line alongside hurler Tomás Brady. DCU next up on Wednesday.

Nice evening ... so looking forward to Dubs v DCU tonight. Flynner probably playing for the opposition. Tomas Brady in at full back.

Re: Dublin GG News
I thought the Dublin team that won Sam in 2011 did so without reaching their full potential and without real consistency. And they had a large rub of the green.
I hoped they would push on, get that consistency and build a real long term future for Dublin football - building on the huge and sustained underage success. For whatever reason - second season syndrome, lack of hunger, familiarity, complacency, internal rumblings, alcohol, take your pick - last year was quite disappointing and the team did not perform at all.
But they did not become a bad team overnight. Now there is a new manager in place and the season kicks off with Dublin holding both All Ireland underage titles - a first for the county. Gavin is shrewd and a better manager IMO than Giller. The age profile of the squad is excellent - on the young side actually. Gavin knows the lads and the scene inside out and has a proven record. His use of the bench is well known and has proven very effective. James McCarthy, Rory O'Carroll came through from 2010 and a number of others are in the panel. Some of the outstanding minors have been blooded and will be further used in the 2013 League.
Also Ciaran Kilkenny is returning from Oz!
All in all I am very optimistic for 2013.
