Re: Liam McCarthy 2009
It's hard to see anyone but the Cats captain standing in the Hogan in September. They just seem to be so far ahead of all the other teams that even if they go back a small bit this year, they should still have enough in the tank to take it.
Plus of course, they have partnered with Donegal this year to facilitate hurling development. With them learning from Donegal they will probably win at a canter

Re: Liam McCarthy 2009
Kilkenny are far from certs in the race for Liam McCarthy. There are a number of teams, who I think on their day would easily take care of the Cats. Waterford, Tipperary and Galway are all capable of beating them but Clare I think will be back on song this year. I'm not a big fan of Mike Mc but still reckon they will have a big say in the destination of Liam. Their defence is rock solid and Colin Lynch, still as good as ever, is back for more along with arguably the country's best midfielder Brian O'Connell. They could be lacking that bit of real firepower up front but then again names like Gilligan, Carmody, Griffin and Markham can't be taken too lightly. All in all, I reckon Kilkenny are very much beatable. No four in a row in my opinion.

There is no side in Ireland better that the Cats, the only way they won't win it is if they get caught cold. Although with Cody at the helm it'll be tough for any side to catch them out.

i'd like to believe that Tipperary could do one over Kilkenny this season...but after watching them play Cork it's getting harder and harder...

I reckon you'll see Kilkenny and Galway meeting twice in the championship this year. Hopefully the last meeting will be in the Ireland final with Galway being victorious, after all Galway are the last team to beat Kilkenny in the Championship. 2005 what a game.

??. We can only hope clash. Reckon it would take a total metamorphosis on the Galway hurling teams part to beat KK once this year, let alone twice. Potumna lads should make a difference alright but not even the original JC himself would likely have been able to turn a team that loses by 12 points to Dublin into a team capable of beating Kilkenny to win the All-Ireland.
As I say however, we live in hope.

I would say that only Tipp and Galway are the only teams capable of beating Kilkenny to the All Ireland this year.

Tbh not looking good Old. Any county would need to have 200% effort, commitment and huge, huge slices of luck to just compete with the Cats. If this kinda messing is going on now - its GULP!

Re: Liam McCarthy 2009
Ye should have kept Meyler. I'd say a quarter final place would be the best you can hope for in the championship, although I would expect ye to beat Dublin and Antrim in Leinster but not Offaly, Galway and Kilkenny.

I know its early and both wexford teams are training hard right up untill match day no lighter training coming up to matchs. but there is guys in college doing very little and seem to be getting away wit it and some guys working local train really hard and were dropped? wexford still have the ability for an upset the only team i think we couldnt give a run is kk but who here thinks there county can

What do people make of Galway's chances this year. Can we bridge a 21 year gap?

I think Galway have a good chance of beating KK if they catch KK on a bad say. I think the championship will be more open this year.

if i get to the game with the relations i have no this time have one still invovled this year, I get some slagging for being the other side of Ross but I wouldn't have it any other way. Was at a trainind session this year brought the chaps with me well they couldn't put hurls down wish the same would be trus if i brought them to see our purple & goldJayo Cluxton wrote:JimWexford wrote:Hard to agree think the cats are on a mission this year & next .
