Only Bill could get away with it!
A real Father Ted moment..........
Craggy Island Parish Hall
Dougal: Whats that funny game of tennis they're playing Ted?
Ted: Ah Dougal - you don't want to know. Its the other crowd you see. Bishop Brennan wouldn't like to see you playing that.
Dougal: Oh right so Ted - stupid game anyway - rackets and feathers.

Re: Olympics 2012
A smug Gary Lineker (is there any other type?) risked losing his greying boyhood features when asking Lewis Lennox if he achieved anything in the pro game. A perplexed Lennox looked a tad miffed (Gary momentarily forgot that a lot of international sports stars and even ordinary folk haven't a clue who he is much less what his sense of humour (!) is like) and singularly unimpressed. Just as Gary was turning a whiter shade of pale and his underwear were preparing for a filling the penny dropped with Lewis. Pity .....

Looking at the GB gymnastic team being interviewed I can see Simon Cowell rubbing his hands at his next boy band. The hits could be endless - A Pummel Horse With No Name, Still Rings of Fire, Nobody's Vault, Parallel Bars Lines, Love Me for a Resin.... etc, etc.

4 races, 4 wins. Can't do any better than that. Must be a gold medal in the offing. I always thought Ireland had potential in sailing, there's usually rough enough conditions off our coast.

By that logic should we not be expecting success from somebody from the western seaboard rather than Dublin.
Also aren't, the Swiss fairly handy at sailing.

This is trickier than it seems Loyal. There are 10 "pre-medal racing" disciplines and being placed 1st. gets you 1 point....2 points for 2nd. and so on up to 10th. which gets you 10 points.
After the 10th. event you are allowed discard your worst round and tally your best 9 events. The lowest scorer is the leader at this stage.
You then carry your score to the final event where the placings are worth double (1st.= 2 points and so on)..
The final race is where it's won and lost, as others are loosely allowed to cut across your line and carry out sailings version of third man tackles. It's "allowable" and occurs occasionally. It's far from cast-iron at this juncture I'm afraid......
This information may or may not be factual, as the Dauber had a few post luncheon pints on him when we met earlier.
But I'll give him this, he sounded quite authoritative. He's become quite familiar with odd sporting issues this last week...

I thought the same Omar. If all goes to plan, there will be a great atmosphere for Farrah, and then Jamaica vs USA in the relay. Just hope neither make a mess of the heats!

Stunning win for Chad leClos over Phelps in the 200m Butterfly. Came from 2 metres down in the last 20, and got him on the touch. I guess when things are going against you, you don't get the breaks, and fancy that Phelps would have won that on the touch 4 years ago.
It actually reminded me of the 100m butterfly in Seoul, when the great Matt Biondi glided in and lost out on the touch to Anthony Nesty of Surinam. BBC commentator, Andy Jameson, won the bronze in that race.

That's top shooting TC, well done. A few enviable finals there to savour. Keep well back from the spear-throwing though.
