Re: Olympics 2012
For a multi ethnic society this is a almost like a bad 1950's soapbox commercial
Every possible symbol of white cute, and twee, middle England.
Cricket playing vicars eating cucumber sandwiches whilst the Mary Poppins nanny reads peter pan stories to young George and Portia.
Shockingly racist - A few token non anglo saxons amongst the extras to take the bad look of it.
If i was michael Johnson i,d leg it before someone sends him to a sugar cane plantation

Agreed, Omar very harsh and quick to judge. I think the story showed the evolving cultural diversity as time passed. An ambitious show, and I enjoyed large parts of it.

Re: Olympics 2012
Have either of you to been to the East end of London at at any stage in the last 25 years.
Taken a walk down brick lane for e.g once full of pie and mash shops, jellied eel and alf garnett types ?
I agree that the show was entertaining, interesting, well choeographed etc. but I would prefer if it just decided it was entertainment instead of attempting to potray a culture that is not reflective of the country.

To be fair, I thought it was reflective of the culture of the country, and focussed on the cosmopolitan elements as the story was brought up to date. I have been watching without commentary, so perhaps I missed some salient points, but I thought it was well done.
(And yes, i know Brick Lane very well.)

Should also add, the lighting of the flame was the best I have seen - absolutely brilliant. If only they had stuck Paul McCartney in it....

Indeed very impressive
As regards Macca a few off key cords of let it be it was nostalgic 27 years ago
Now it reminds me of when you are on holiday with few beers on board.
The lad that does his karaoke party piece of suspicious minds seems novel the first night. After 14 nights of the same crap you want to fishgut him.

Damned if I know what that Colombian was trying to do at the finish of the cycling slows down and looks down the narrow side leaving a red carpet for vinakourov. Bad crash for Cancellaro. Seemed like both wheels slid on a dry road

Don't know what he was at either OMAR, a bit of inexperience I suppose, bad day for team GB, though they weren't helped by the peloton.
