I don't see how it is personal as he himself admitted it in public....But sure Georgie was handy with a ball at his feet so that should forgive all the hardship he put the women and others in his life through.....
As I said about Gazza and Paul McGrath on another thread the more you bury your head in the sand about these people's faults the more you are helping them hurt themselves and others.....If they weren't famous sports stars this kind of carry on would be rightly seen as abhorent if commited by anyone else in civilised society......

I care too much.....
But I never lashed out physically at a member of the opposite sex, which I am sure you will agree is one of the lowest things a person can do....And anyone who does such a thing deserves nothing but contempt

Big Fitzie, my boyhood hero, actually played mid field for Antrim and Ulster, the type of guy who would have lifted ollie aker by the ankles and used him as a club to bate Brian Lohan over the head with.
His younger sister, in later life affectionately known as "Machine Gun Kate" was ALWAYS beating the crap out of the entire street, male or female. I admit I Judased her one day from behind with a hurling stick and had to live in fear for years.
So Big Fitzie, "The Scarlet Pimpernel of the IRA" as the Daily Mirror called him, was a serious terror.
But Kate and I bate members of the opposite sex.
So was Big Fitzie the only real, Macho man among us, killer that he was?
I ask all of this to illustrate that George Best was possibly the greatest footballer ever.
If we are to have a discussion on woman beating, well Roy Keane was in court three times for it.
didn't affect his football however.
Wasn't it a quare gale blowing today?

I would wholeheartedly agree that Roy Keane is nothing more than a guttersnipe of the highest order.....
You can clas George as the greatest man in your eyes ever, makes no odds to me, as I will always see him as the degenerate thieving alcoholic wife beater that he was, footballing ability or not it doesn't excuse any of his acts.....

NOW WHEN YOU SHOW ME WHERE I SAID GEORGE WAS THE GREATEST MAN (SPELT MAN) AS DISTINCT FROM FOOTBALLER (SPELT FOOTBALLER) I WILL SAY THAT i AM CRASSLY STUPID.

Where did I say you said he was the greatest man
I said you CAN I never said you did, it was used as a tool of comparision and not as a fact.....Funny that you are saying I misinterpreted the post when you have taken mine up completely wrong
My point was that some people CAN class Georgie as the greatest thing since sliced bread, I honetly don't care, for me the man was given far far more chances than anyone else and despite all this still threw his life away, greats aren't washed up in their mid 20's....Football ability is one thing but it doesn't make up for the shortcomings of the man, domestic violence is a horrid I am sure you will agree and shouldn't be tolerated in any civilised society, don't think it should be excused in Georgie's case because he was a handy footballer.....

Yes, CAN being the operative word....
Do I need to repeat the point I just made, you CAN class him as whatever you want, I honestly don't care what you made of him, doesn't change the fact he was degenerate thieving alcoholic wife beater

Its a pity Puke is off sorting out the Middle East. I'd like to hear his take on what happened in the San Siro last night. And if United (or Chelsea) take their eyes off Schalke as they consider the Barca/Real conundrum they could get a very nasty shock.

Apart from the goals in the Real Madrid match i saw none of the football.....Although I am in no way surprised Inter were hockeyed, they are an old team with far too many miles on the clock, last year emptied an aging squad and as Saturday night showed along with Tuesdays defeat that they are past it......Big rebuilding job needed there
Good to see the flat track bullies were given a hockeying by Real.....
The champion's league is heading to spain this year, of that there is little doubt. Really hope Man United make the final though, no excuses for them not to make it now

Van Gaal has been sacked as manager of FC Hollywood....Nobody to blame but himself and his ego, turned down funds in the summer from the board to invest in the squad thinking he could develop the young lads into quality players but it didnt happen

Treble looms large.
Premier League is practically wrapped up, easy one on Saturday against Tevez-less City at Wembley to leave a final against either Stoke and Bolton, Schalke for a place in the Champions League final - also on home soil against the winners of Real Madrid and Barcelona. One really big name needed.

Good result tonight, they looked very composed, Rooney, Giggs and Park were immense. Ramires was hard done by after a great performance but Terry should have walked. United beating Chelsea when it really matters, again..
They're in with a good shot of making the final now but Schalke (presuming they go through) are no pushovers. Hard to know w hat will happen on Saturday, City haven't beaten United in about 2 years now, they're bound to come up with a win at some stage. Hard to call.

Really can't believe that such an average side could win the treble. Can't see them beating the winners of Barca/Madrid, but I guess anything can happen in a final, particularly as Utd would be set up to frustrate and nick a goal.

City are a one man operation JS, would you agree? Nothing without the talismanic Tevez.
Schalke are ninth in what can be described as your typically wide-open Bundesliga - hard to see how they should be good enough to beat an in-form United, who are another couple of levels up from an out-of-sorts Internazionale.
One big game against Madrid or Barca and the treble is theirs, and remember those two teams will play each other four times in eighteen days from Sunday.
Only one United.

TC cannot see how such average sies win things.
Bayern Leverkausen who were 14th in the Bundesliga in 2002 nearly won the CL, although they had an easy run to the final.
Man City won the FA cup in 2011 and were useless.
i missed this as I was at a wedding on 14th May, all day.
That is how I know they won the cup, because I missed it. If I had realised then I would have put 20k on them before the semi with United.
I thought the cL game with Chelsea was next week..........was it a good game?

Bayern Leverkusen lost the Bundeliga title by a point to Bayern Munich in 2002, the same year they lost the Champion's league final to Madrid, they also lost the German cup final to Schalke

As loyal has said in reality it boils down to one game away from another treble
Giggs still doing the business - 12 years (almost to the day) from when his wonder goal against Arsenal sparked
hopes of their first one.
Barca/Real should be clear favourites but who knows - A rooney wonder Goal - One giggs cross - A homecrowd penalty - A bore draw penalty shoot out - Anything can happen on the night
