Ulster u-21 Championship
Under 21 Football Championship Quarter Finals:
Armagh v Donegal Brewster Park Enniskillen 24-03-2010 20:00 Eamon McHugh
Antrim v Monaghan Casement Park Belfast 24-03-2010 20:00 Barry Cassidy
Cavan v Down Breffni Park 24-03-2010 20:00 Fergal Cleary
Derry v Fermanagh Celtic Park 24-03-2010 20:00 Stephen McNamee
This competition really kicks into gear tomorrow night with the above fixtures being played. The preliminary round has already taken place with Derry recording an impressive victory over Tyrone, and they would have to be considered strong favourites to win the competition outright with alot of the same players that got to the AI minor final in 2007.
Don't know what to think about our match as I wouldn't know alot about Antrim. I'd imagine they'll be tough though as Antrim football is on the up at present and I've heard this team is good. We seem to have a good group of players, a few of them have been playing most of the league with the seniors and performing well, so hopefully they can take that form with them to Casement tomorrow night.
Any thoughts on any of the games?

Great win for Donegal by 3 points against a fancied Armagh team. Murphy, McLoone, Molloy all had great games.
What's the story with Down?? Come on Cavan!

Full time scores:
Antrim 2-06 2-12 Monaghan
Armagh 0-09 1-09 Donegal
Cavan 3-14 1-08 Down
Derry 5-09 2-12 Fermanagh
Some high-scoring games there. Good win for us, went down by a few points early on but recovered well to lead by nine at one stage, Antrim got a goal back but we kept the 6 point margin.
Interesting tie in the next round against Cavan, looking forward to putting all ye Breffni fanatics back in your boxes!

Lot of goals scored. Donegal the only team not to concede one.
Next round is next Wed. Venue is based on the toss of a coin between Derry and Donegal. Don't if it's the same on the other side of the draw.

I'm sure there's a flat bed trailer big enough to hold us all. Although based on the height stats we better go for one without a roof.

Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
1.martin smith (laragh) made one great save, let in a goal with last kick of the game but nothing he could do about it
2.patrick "butsy" carroll (ballinagh)had a good game, was fairly tight on his man and drove forward with the ball a good few times
3.rory dunne (redhills)did very well also, his man didnt get a lot of a ball and when he did, dunne really applied the pressure
4.daragh tighe (killeshandra)for a small lad he can fairly win the high ball, much the same story as dunne
18.daniel graham (cavan gaels)very good again, did well driving forward as well
6.james mcenroe (ramor)did well also, theres just something about him that im not sure of,but very good none the less.
7.tomas reilly (killeshandra)hes from killeshandra,he's class
8.gearoid mckiernan (swanlinbar) broke alot of ball and came forward to score a few nice points.
9.david givney (mountnugent)caught and broke alot of ball, skinning and dummying lads left right and centre, can be lethal from long range
10.niall smith (cavan gaels)ive never seen a lad run as much, from 20m to 20m all night long, and has serious speed,no wonder he came off with cramp.
11.niall mcdermott (ballinagh)set up alot of play and scored a few points
17.barry reilly (kingscourt)very good considering he's only been on the panel a week or two
13.brendan "bud" fitzpatrick (belturbet)can be class on his day,but didnt see much of the ball, but was good when he did.
14.declan mckiernan (killeshandra)see tomas reilly^^^ ah no,he was very good as well, got a goal and a few points aswell.
15.conor mcclarey (cavan gaels) was unmarkable in the first half, wasnt just as good in the second, dont think he scored much, but he got a good bit of ball and set up scores.
with another few lads to come back from injury we wont be easily beat.monaghan will be alot tougher than down were tonight.

Boxty will come up with something I'm sure. Yes m - this is a long term project but as long as the U21s keep tuning into GAA Tipster and seeing the belief and support we have for them then it may not be too long at all!
Never before have so many supported so few! We will march four square behind them - when there is doubt in their minds they will read the posts here and fear nothing - when they are lacking heart they will logon and go away exuding confidence. When they feel like throwing in the towel, when the going gets tough, when the manure hits the cooling implement - they will read here and be emboldened. They will log off as new men - a full foot taller and a full yard faster. They will triumph and all will be well in Ulster again.
