Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
Great win for Cavan. It's a breath of fresh air to have a team that the county can get behind and have confidence in. As was said somewhere before a lot of the Cavan players are the main men with their clubs and could handle the pressure in the final few minutes.
McEnroe will be glad to have the chance to redeem himself in the final. Hopefully the Cavan mid-field can starve Murphy of ball and Rory Dunne should be relishing the opportunity to show that he can make the full back position his own.

Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
Well done on the win Cavan, not a nice game to lose in the circumstances. Couldn't get to it unfortunately. Going down 1-5 to nothing early on really was a horror start, but the lads came back well to eventually lead in the second half after getting a goal ourself. But by all accounts we missed a few chances towards the end and a hungrier Cavan team took the win. So the team that wanted it more got it, can't argue with that but it's disappointing to yet again come up short at this level. My clubmate Colm Greenan was unfortunately injured for the game after getting an injury against Mayo in the league, a big miss as he's been one of our better players and would have added alot in midfield where Cavan are strong. Whoever wins the final have a good chance to go all the way.

Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
Cavan need to put this under achieving at the younger grades behind them and tomorrow night is their chance.. A lot of people thought they'd never hear the phrase "Cavan can control the midfield" ever again, 6 solid forwards instead of our usual one man show routine, If the football Gods give us a bit of luck and Dunne can keep full concentration and marshall his fullback line until the final whistle we're in with a good shot. Best of luck lads, bring it home!

Looking forward to another cracking game tonight..
Can see donegal trying to muscle Cavan out of it and putting 13 men behind the ball..
Hopefully the pitch will be dry which will suit Cavans forwards cant see it happening tho!
Up Cavan!

Up Cavan!
The Cavan lads must be very small and puny? A few people have mentioned Donegal being able to muscle them out of it. Hope it's the case. No room for puny men at this level!

Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
Really looking forward to this game tonight, live commentary on Shannon Side Northern Side I hope?
I was talking to a Cavan starting member last night and there's no way they are losing this game. Honestly, this is as impressive an u21 team as there's ever been when you consider all the lads Cavan are missing; Eugene Keating (injured), Ado Cole (laziness), Cillian Sheridan (foreign sports) and a couple of other fringe players who are gone travelling. Suppose it gives Donegal a chance but with Dunne, Givney and the McKiernans, I only see one result.

RMDrive, were def not puny, but your team is as big, possibly bigger than most intercounty teams.only an hour and a half left to go.

Re: Ulster u-21 Championship
Ah the "puny" thing was very much tongue in cheek. I'm just amazed at how many people I've heard talk about the difference in size between the teams. You'd swear the Donegal lads were all 7ft and the Cavan lads U-12!!
Will be a close game I reckon but I think Cavan might shade it. I'm only going on second hand accounts as I haven't been to any of the games but I think it will be easier for Cavan to disrupt Donegal's game plan (i.e. get the ball to Murphy) than it will for Donegal to counter Cavan's. In particular I think the midfield battle will be the winning of the game. With Givney leading the way I think we will struggle there and as is the case in most games, if you can win/break-even in midfield you are unlikely to win the game.
Either way it's going to give a big boost to a county that badly needs it. Best of luck to both teams.

HT DL 1-05 CN 0-02 Murph with 1-03. Cavan dominated the first 20 min but could only register the 2 points. We managed to hang on and had a good spell to close the half. Far from over.

Yes!! Great win for Donegal. Built on the hard work and intensity that is the trade make of the team. Murph with 1-05.
Great performances all over the pitch. McLoone held his own in the middle of the field which was key. Molloy, McHugh, Mulhern all had great games.
Hard luck to Cavan. Sounded like you had great support there.

fair play to donegal, alot closer than scoreline suggests,if ref had of disciplined murphy for unbelievable time wasting,in one incident, then it really could of went either way.hopefully they will go all the way,and maybe play football for most of the game rather than dragging out kickouts and frees.

Ah come on Dougal - a little more graciousness ... Anyway we don't want to show our hand too early this season!!
So its Donegal, Roscommon, Tipperary and ... Dublin. We've got to get behind the underdogs here lads. C'mon the Dubs!!!

Jesus Dougal. How about a bit of class. How about the treatment Murphy got off the ball? How about the several dirty challenges on Mark McHugh? How about the Cavan man feigning injury after Donegal got the first goal in order to give time to settle the ship? If Cavan were good enough to win they would have. Talking about time wasting is just making excuses. Another 10 minutes wouldn't have won that game for Cavan.
I'll put your post down to disappointment Dougal. Hard luck.
