not at all Jayo. Of course other factors will influence the actual game in question but you can still COMPARE the two teams in such a way before the game! It's part of what match previews, favourites, predictions etc are all made up from and you'd be stupid to ignore it.
I ignore it - probably why I wonder the hurling tipster last season .....
ps Jim - I was talking football!

Aye Jim but if Wexford beat Dublin by 27 points and then Dublin beat Tipperary by 17 points in the qualifiers it will mean that Wexford will beat Tipp in the final by 44 points ............

You lost me at the e=mc^2-44+17-16 type of thing.
I see and agree with your point over young samuel, and I really think (plus am praying and hoping) that tipp get a serious come uppance this year

jim money doesn't buy success, to make the next step above the hurling countys will not be easy..

Makes it a bit easier though, don't tell me a.Daly is doing it for the love of dublin (and by the way fair play to him as well). For what resources now (rather than money) they need to be getting a better return. AI's in colleges, minors and AI semi's in U21 need to be getting it out a adult level.
If not you'll become another Galway plenty of prospects but no delivery, all hope with nothing to show for it once the hit 22.

Harsh Jim - harsh. You might as well throw in Jason Ryan, Joe Kernan, Justin McCarthy, Davey Fitz, Micko, Geezer and a host of others if thats the case.

JimWexford wrote:don't know where your going with that statement but inside Leinster dublin would of always been viewed as a DUAL county. Never once would they od been regarded as a soft touch.Teams may of expected to beat them but they always game up with a surprise very other year - you should check the results in the 70's/80's when the dubs had a football team and see there hurling results.
They still are 2nd in the provincial role of honour to boot.
only people they annoyed where themselves at how little they put back into the game, now they are on a real rise again BUT need a league semi as well as an AI semi to show progress
Jim, sorry i didn't get back to you and explain my comment further y'day, damn work got in the way again!!!
I'll tell you why i'm of that view, you say look at the results of the 70s and 80s of the Hurlers in Dublin and that they "came up with a surprise every other year" in Leinster, fair play to them but surprise victories are part and parcel of the GAA season, look at Wicklow, Fermanagh, Antrim and your own Wexford in the football for an example, all delivered surprises but not really regarded as strong counties in Football. Just look at the Ulster Championship for shock hurling results, New York beating Derry?
Also, just count the number of Provincial and All Ireland Championships at Senior level that Dublin have won in both Football and Hurling since the 70s, in Football they have 20 Leinster Championships and 5 All Irelands, in Hurling they have 0 Leinsters and 0 All Irelands since 1970 (last Leinster they won was in the 60s if i'm correct, last All Ireland in the 40s i think, could be wrong), surely that surmounts to them being primarily a Football county as i previously said? Maybe not, silly me.
