GT National Quiz League 2010
Ok, i've plan (hope) to run a NHL/NFL style quiz competition in the coming weeks!
Here's how it'll work, there will be 4 groups of three or four players (depending on demand) with the top 2 going into the League Semi-Finals.
The group stages will comprise of 4 players going head to head against each other once. Each group fixture will have 4 questions, 2 points to be awarded to the winning player, none to the loser with one point each being awarded in the event of a draw.
Score difference will be taken into account in the event of players having the same amount of points at the end of the group stage, in the event of 2 players having the same score difference then 'head to head' results will be taken into account. Should the head to head have been a draw then there will be a one question play-off to decide who qualifies for the Quarter-Final stage.
Questions in the group stages will comprise of 1 hurling, 1 Gaelic Football and 2 General GAA knowledge.
The Quarter Final stage will see the winners of groups play the runners up in another group, the draw will be seeded so players from the same group will not meet until the final. The Quarter-Final fixture will be the best of 5 questions (first to 3 correct answers wins) with the winners advancing to the Semi-Final.
Group winners will be deemed as having "home advantage" and therefore will be able to chose what the first question should be on. They cannot pass up this advantage.
Questions for the QF stage will comprise of 1 hurling, 1 Gaelic Football 2 General GAA knowledge and 1 "world sport" (including Soccerball, Rugby, etc)
The Semi-Final stage will be the best of 7 questions (first to 4 correct answers wins) with the winners advancing to the Final.
Questions for the QF stage will comprise of 2 hurling, 2 Gaelic Football 2 General GAA knowledge and 1 "world sport" (including Soccerball, Rugby, etc)
The League Final will be the best of 9 questions (first to 5 correct answers wins) with the winner being crowned GAATipster League Quiz Champion 2010.
Questions for the Final will comprise of 2 hurling, 2 Gaelic Football 2 General GAA knowledge, 1 "world sport" (including Soccerball, Rugby, etc) and 1 General Knowledge.
I will be making up the questions in the coming days and hopefully if there is enough interest then we will be running within the fortnight. All Group stage fixtures will be run off in the one day/night (whatever suits me and the players).
If you have any good questions that i could use then please PM them to me, any i use i will notify players who the question came from before posting it! I will try, where possibile, to keep all GAA questions neutral to the competing players (ie if players are from Antrim & Down then there will hopefully be no questions on Antrim or Down GAA)
If you are interested then entry is strictly on a first come first served basis. Entry will be limited to a Maximum of 16 players and you are to register your interest in this thread. I will be quiz-master and therefore not taking part.
Any questions on format or the quiz them PM me.

Re: GT National Quiz League 2010
Yeah put me down BE.
I reckon you could aim for 24 or 32 if marketed right. I had a sixteen playing last July and how many have joined since?
Your biggest problem will be getting people to fulfil fixtures etc.

Re: GT National Quiz League 2010
Fir play to ya Bald Eagle. I'd be intersted OK as I need to claw back a bit of credit after getting hammered by fellow Tyrone Gael Thomas Clarke in Rua's/Loyals Good Friday quiz. As long as I avoid TC in the draw I might actually pick up a point or two. Tir Eoghain abu

Would love to make it bigger Loyal but i'm working on it on my own and it will be a bit of a monster with it having a league format at the start of it. I just fear that 24 or 32 may be too much for an inexperienced quizmaster life myself.

Poor enough turn out.
Clash looks like the being the main danger. The rest just seem to be playing for the novelty of it. TC, Patrique, Shinners appear to be running scared.
