The National League - Do you really want your county to win it?
As a Derryman that's fed up to the back teeth with us winning the National League only to get pumped in the Championship, this year i would be delighted with a mid-table finish and a good Championship run.
Derry flunked in last years Championship last year after winning the League with a blistering second half against Kerry, and Donegal the year before went from "contenders" to crap in a few weeks!
So with that in mind, do you really care how your county do in the NL?

I suppose it would keep a lot of Gilroys bashers quiet alright, sure Leinsters are like 5cent coins in Dublin!!
Liam, i've never had a problem with you good sir! I'm more than happy to start afresh in our fabulous new surrounds! The boys have done a great job eh?

Good point BE! God be with the days us Dubs used to do the Double!!
If its one over the other it has to be the C'ship. Having said that we have done nothing in the League (Div 2 doesn't count) for years and have still not been able to make the All Ireland Final. But I don't think winning a League would give that much satisfaction to Dubs fans.
Its like the FA Cup - only the bum teams take it serious in the early rounds hence the bigger guns can find themselves out of it.
Mind you last Sat was a good night - for a League match!

I reckon we are in the same boat BE. The league means nothing this year because of our previous poor championship performances. I wasn't saying that in 2007 though! I suppose it's all relative to your recent history. If you haven't won anything in a while then it's brilliant to do well in the league. This year though ... relegation wouldn't even bother me. As long as we have a stong showing in the Championship and at least get to an Ulster final.

The League was great to win in 2007. Of course we would love to win it again. However, our performances in the Championship since then mean that nothing less than an Ulster Title will do this year. We have big ambitions in Donegal but unfortunately we are let down year after year! Winning Sam in 2009 is but a dream at the moment!

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Mayo winning the league. it would show the rest of us what O'Mahony claims when he says that the team is improving.
That and Mayo are a confidance team, if we win the league then we might win COnnaught and maybe get to at least an All-Ireland semi final.
after last sundays defeat to a 2nd string Derry side(granted we didnt have the ref for most of the 1st half or any of the 2nd half) it may be a long shot!

Yeah, it's hard to see this improvement that JOM is on about. Hopefully I'll still be saying that after the 14th

If leitrim are to achieve anything under M & M it's a must that they get promoted from division 4. No disrespect to any of the counties but it's utterly depressing having to go to the likes of waterford and kilkenny. A league final would be terrific as they are all in croke park and would be fantastic for the county to play there.

Winning the league seems to be a sort of poisioned chalice - though I would like to see Tyrone going far in it and wouldnt say no to winning it.

Couldnt agree more bald eagle, didnt want to win it last year and dont want to win it this year.
Mid table would be perfect. No matter how much teams says it doesnt affect them, it has been proven time and time again that it does. The lower leagues is a different story though, getting promotion means that a team is gaining momentum but they dont have the expectations that would be on the divisoin one winners. Results over the past have shown this. The teams to watch in the championship are often those who have gained promotion from some of the lower leagues.
