Re: Dublin V Kerry
Kerry will win, they are sneaking through the backdoor the way Tyrone did last year. They are simply doing enough to win. I said it before last years quarter final about Tyrone that it was only a matter of time untill someone was on the recieving end of a serious hammering (turned out to be Dublin). I can see the same thing happening again this year. Dublin have won their championship. The draw is fixed for Kerry who always seem to get the easiest teams every draw.

you know this statement that Dublin havent beaten Kerry in 32 years....its about as relevant as saying Dublin havent beaten London in 50 years

Dublin have had eight chances to beat Kerry in 32 years, they've failed every time.
So it is relevant and I'm sure the more its thrown around, the more nervous the players get as they start to realise the sort of history they are trying to defy made even harder by such a weight of expectation on their shoulders.
They will melt when Kerry get going. In the last twenty minutes, it will be same story for Dublin, so near yet so far. They won't handle the pressure.

think your being kind to the Dubs there loyal. Last 20 minutes? I think they will be out of it at half time.

Re: Dublin V Kerry
Like I was saying on another well known website this morning, its very hard to believe how one set of supporters year after year lose at the Quarter Final stage, the Semi-Final stage yet every time they come back they have a renewed sense of optimism. How on Earth can they not learn? This year they think Gilroy has waved his magic wand and that this time they will not crumble? Were they not watching the Meath game? They crumbled big time that day and had we six forwards on the pitch, we would have taken advantage. Unfortunetely, there was only the one forward - Cian Ward. Farrell and Bray were injured, Meade is a midfielder and King and McAnarney are backs. Dublin were so lucky that day, they got the majority of decisions too. And are Kerry better than Meath? Unquestionably yes.
But back to my original question, why can Dublin supporters not learn?

I know its the same every year, they look like superstars against some poor leinster team but when they meet one of the big guns they crumble.

Re: Dublin V Kerry
Impressed with Gilroy so far I have to say. The pathetic antics of previous management seems to have been discarded with. They've stopped gloating and their genearal loutishness on the field, playing to the Hill, soccer celebrations, badge kissing, blue books, all that kind of shite, and now their just playing good hard honest football. It might be the making of them.

Re: Dublin V Kerry
This is a tricky one to call. You have Dublin who are clearly the form team and looked impressive all through Leinster, and crucially came out on the right side of a good tight game in the final, the type of game that they've badly needed in Leinster and a lack of which left them badly prepared for Tyrone last year. Then you've Kerry, stuttering through the qualifiers against Division 4 teams and looking far from impressive, as well as there being some unrest in the camp.
On paper it looks like Dublin really should be winning this, and laying down a serious marker of their intentions. They'll be unbelievably up for this needless to say, and will see it as the most golden of opportunities to get a rare victory over Kerry. I just feel Kerry have one more big kick in them and we'll see a dramatic improvement on Monday. Whether that's good enough to overcome this Dublin team brimming with confidence is another thing, but Dublin will need to be fully prepared for this and show no signs of the complacency that cost them in the past. But I have no doubt they'll be well drilled for this under Gilroy. I'd agree with you mossbags re Gilroy, very impressed with his approach thusfar myself. No bullshit, just good football. Having said that, I've a notion to go with Kerry for some reason, if the sight of the confident Dubs looking to throw them out of the championship doesn't rev them up, then nothing will. Despite Kerry's faults this year it's still a greater test than Dublin have already got this year, and it should be a cracking game either way.

IF the Dubs win this it could put them in business, as it would be the massive confidence boost they need.

Re: Dublin V Kerry
If the Dubs can't win this one they may peg their caps at it altogether.
This is unquestionably the poorest Kerry team since the late 80's when Cork mastered them with ease for years.
No one can deny that the Dubs are on the up - granted Leinster is the weakest province and they only had to reach for the turbo-stick for a while against Kildare, who are exaggerated out of all proportion. Tyrone will handle them comfortably.
Kerry, on the other hand, are a team in terminal and rapid decline. Darragh O'Sé operating for 30/40 mins. on memory alone. Marc O'Sé a shadow of 2 years ago and Cooper replicating his mediocre efforts of last year. Mick McCarthy at 6 Full back line a mixum-gatherum of footballers without the cunning or pace to curb the eager Dublin f/f line.
No Donaghy! Walsh is a very poor man's Donaghy. Scanlon at m/f ? Another 35 min operator.
Dublin at evens with Spoil sports is money for old rope.. Dubs by 6/8 in a hack canter...

Re: Dublin V Kerry
I'd by and large agree with Boxty. Kerry are there for the taking, and it will be a damning indictment of Dublin if they can't win this game.
Certainly, Dublin have weaknesses, and I haven't yet seen any evidence to suggest that they have improved in any way under Gilroy, but they should still have enough to win.
Kerry have been awful. They weren't great last year, and they have regressed a lot even since then. People talk about their progress resembling Tyrone's last year, but Tyrone played quite well in losing to Down, and showed gradual signs of improvement through each round of the qualifiers. Kerry started the championship badly, and have looked worse with every game. They are unfit, slow, disorganised and lacking in confidence. I'd be shocked if they suddenly become supermen again on Monday.
This game is Dublin's to lose.

3 great matches in Connacht : Leitrim v Roscommon, Galway v Sligo and Galway v Mayo.
1 goodish match in Leinster : Dublin v Kildare.
Shure twas' a foregone conclusion that Dublin would win Leinster whereas any 1 of the 5 Connacht counties, excluding of course Roscommon, has genuine aspirations of a Nestor Cup.
Where's the sport in that?

Boxty - Man Utd usually win the Premiership year on year. There might be 8 close teams vying for the Beezer Homes League ..... where's the sport in that?

Shure that's soccer Jayo, not a sport at all. Not even entertainment, no matter what teams are working, because it's seen as work to their masters.
Ol' Whiskeynose spouting about "investing" in Blabbo or Slobbo or whomever. Then saying "we worked hard all week" - my axse. Carrying blocks or plastering ceilings or wha!!!!!
The sport went out of that game 30 years ago and it's demise was led by the Edwards family at Manchester Utd. Spoofers the lot of them.
And lads here going mad on a Saturday, down the pub in their ensembles practically in tears if the result goes agin' them, spouting about wide men etc. etc. Laughable really.

They were talking about the Dublin vs Kerry game on English radio this morning must be a really big game for that to happen. come to think of it they also mention hurling - and how the presenter once did a report from an under-11s hurling club in Dublin and a small kid ran past him and smacked him with his hurley before shouting "stop complaining and get on with the game!"
