Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
the more i look at this the more it smakes of the first stalemate between two ulster countys this year, theres always one draw and i think this will be it, its mad there have been very few draws anywhere this year but i think this will change here.
I think a big reason for this is because alot of the games go straight to extra time rather than a replay (and another big gate for the GAA). Expect to see some draws where straight into extra time is not allowed.
The closer we get to it the more confident i am becoming, Armagh by 4.

Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
Interesting statistics....
Monaghan havent scored a goal against Armagh in the championship in over 20 years.
Armagh only have 1 crossmaglen player starting against Monaghan.
Over the past 10 years in league and championship Monaghan and Armagh have both won 3 games each and drawn 2.
Monaghan have scored a total (2-77) (83)
Armagh have scored a total (6-87) (105)
Total (8-164) (188)
Who will win on Saturday?

Stats can be be made to look favourable for anybody Admin, so I wouldn't pass much remarks on those stats to be honest. Especially the ones about the last 10 or 20 years seeing as we've only been decent for the last few. The last time we met in the championship was 2006 when it took a replay for Armagh to get by us, and we're a much different team now despite the largely similar personnel. Even with Tommy missing I'm not too worried, it will be a good showing of where we're at, and I'd be confident enough of our chances. If we're beat then that's fair enough, if we win it will be very encouraging and give us a bit of a lift.
Aye, because it's such a foregone conclusion that Armagh will win...

Same thing applies. Not a certainty but confident all the same.

Im not one to look at the past, but we still have the same forwards
Hopefully it will be a great game and good luck to both teams - more so Armagh

No, 3 of the same forwards, and we've a better defence now
Bit surprised at the tipster predictions to be honest, 16 Armagh to 7 Monaghan. Not saying we should have the most tipping us or that we should be favourites, but i certainly would've thought it'd be more even. I really think people are reading too much into Freeman being missing. Sure, he's our best forward and of course a big loss, but I still think the team we've picked are more than capable of beating that Armagh team. This Monaghan team is extremely mentally tough and will be up for the fight. This time last year when we played the league champs Derry, we were expected to lose and we were without not one but two of our best players and got through. The last thing I'm trying to do is talk us up, and Armagh are rightly favourites, but we seem to be written off a good bit which surprises me a bit. Still, that's the way we like it so I should be happy!
Here's hoping for a good game of football and the winner should go far, or at least will be well set up for it after a good test.

I have a funny feeling for Monaghan I don't know why. Its possibly because Samin has been trying to wind me up all week and MMM is a gent. I'm not sure though ........

Percentage wise I would say that Armagh have a 52% of winning and Monaghan have a 48% chance.

Trying to wind you up? Must have missed something
To be honest MMM i would still be fairly confident even if tommy freeman (who i think is a superb player) was playing. The reason being Andy Mallon is one of the quickest and best corner backs in Ireland. To be honest id be more worries about Finlay kicking 4 or 5 monster points which he is more than capable of doing.

Easy win for Monaghan and easy 2 points for me in the Tipster.

Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
Exactly Sam, Tommy is actually usually quiet enough against Armagh and Finlay is the one who has been the main man when we've done well against Armagh in the past. This is why I'm still confident enough, but we will need a big game from Jap, Woods too. A performance from the two of them like against Donegal last year would do nicely!

It wont be a draw.
Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
have to agree with you there samin, Mallon is an excellent defender as tight a man marker as they come and rarely fouls. I cant see anything but an Armagh win - Monaghan have emptied the tank over the last few years and have nothing but a final appearance to show for it. I think they are running on empty and will exit the championship - it will a tight affair but Armagh should shade it.

No joy for Tommy with the DRA. Bit of a joke to be honest. I didn't really expect him to be available for this evening, but were we to win he would be out for the next 2 games also, and that's what annoys me. When you compare it to other incidents it baffles me really!

toally agree MMM and even more so when that b*****d Mc Guigan that butted Dooher got away scot free. An attempted head butt is 8 weeks an actual headbutt is nothing - tell Tommy not to hold back the next time

Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
Yeah it really amazes me Boc. The luck we've had in the last few years between qualifier draws and suspensions has been nothing short of horrible. Just thinking there, Finlay got banned for 2 months this time last year for verbals! Maybe we've gone into these appeal processes a bit naive though, particularly when you look at the professional approach Derry took as opposed to us.
Ah well, it's a disappointment but it doesn't really affect this evening. Going to head off to Clones soon now, here's hoping for a Monaghan double!

Re: Monaghan vs Armagh
Nasty dig there from Freeman, caught Clarke around the neck and then proceeded to drive his foot into his back. A lot of yellows in this game.
Lol, at the poster on the hill 'Brolly is a tool'
