Predicted Team:
Goalkeeper: David Herity
Full-Backs: Paul Murphy, Paul Curran, Jackie Tyrell
Half-Backs: Tommy Walsh, Padraic Maher, JJ Delaney
Midfield: Gearoid Ryan, Michael Fennelly
Half-Forwards: Richie Power, Henry Sheflin, Bonnar Maher
Full-Forwards: John Mullane, Lar Corbett, Richie Hogan
My team differs slightly to the one I posted on the Hurling Team of the Year thread due to John Mullane being nominated in the FF line. As a result, I've went with Richie Power as an indirect replacement for Colin Fennelly. I'd have prefered to have included both Fennelly and Mullane but such a permutation is not possible.

Hello Ollie. The next time you call anyone a name, submit a post of less than 3 words or generally try to antagonise people, I will have no option but to ban you.
There's better out of you - we've all seen it - but sometimes you get lazy and it's no good for the site.

Re: 2011 Hurling All Stars
The betting points to 4 All Stars for Dublin. Personally I think Shane Durkan had a superbly consistent season for Dublin in League and Championship but the half back line is full of stars and so he is unlikely to win one. I would have him in the first 3 in any list of Dublin players to get an All Star.
I wonder would the hurling expert from Meath (oxymoron?) be willing to give posters here odds on Dublin not having any or even 3 or less?

Cody's Cats secure eight places on All-Stars hurling team
Friday, October 21, 2011 - 07:30 AM
Reigning All-Ireland champions Kilkenny have secured eight places on the 2011 GAA GPA Hurling All-Stars team.
Finalists Tipperary receive four while Dublin get two and Waterford complete the line up with their single place.
Henry Shefflin establishes a new record receiving his 10th award. He won his first award in 2000 and his ninth in 2009 brought him level with Pat Spillane (in the 1976-1986 period) and D.J. Carey (1991-2002).
Last year, Tommy Walsh equalled the record of eight-in-a-row and his award this year sets a new record for consecutive awards.
The first-time winners are Gary Maguire, Paul Murphy, Michael Cahill, Brian Hogan, Liam Rushe and Richie Hogan.
Dublin's season is acknowledged by having two players in the selection for the first time since the inception of the scheme in 1971.
GAA president Christy Cooney congratulated the 2011 award recipients, the first hurling winners under the new joint scheme between the GAA and the GPA.
He said: "The excellence of Kilkenny and Tipperary has once again been acknowledged in the selection of the 15 players who make the cut for this year's selection. The strides made by Dublin are also evident with two players included in the line up and John Mullane's consistency is once again underlined with another award.
"Within Kilkenny's haul of eight the personal feats of both Henry Shefflin and Tommy Walsh remind us that we are witnessing first-hand the skills of players who are as good as any that have played the game.
"I congratulate all of the players who won awards and I would like to thank the GPA and CEO Dessie Farrell in particular for helping us to bring the two awards schemes together.
"A special word of thanks is also due to Opel and their MD Dave Sheeran whose support of the awards has been an integral part in our success in bringing two schemes together for the first time ever".
The team is as follows:
Goalkeeper
1. Gary Maguire (Dublin)
Full backs
2. Paul Murphy (Kilkenny)
3. Paul Curran (Tipperary)
4. Michael Cahill (Tipperary)
Half backs
5. Tommy Walsh (Kilkenny)

Does the Championship count then? How come a guy who didn't get a puck of the ball in the Final gets an All Star - Lar Corbett? Paul Ryan banging them over consistently all year doesn't. Two All Stars for a team that won a National title and got to the All Ireland semi is a disgrace end of story. And four for a team who didn't turn up for the Final - its a joke but what would you expect from journalists. And Peter Kelly deserved an All Star before either of the Tipp FBs.

Unbelievable....goes to show how incredibly biased these things are!
How have Dublin recieved two AllSatrs?
The changes I'd make to the team:
David Herity -> Gary Maguire
Jackie Tyrell -> Michael Cahill
JJ Delaney -> Brian Hogan
Gearoid Ryan -> Liam Rushe
Bonnar Maher -> Michael Rice

How many pucks did Paul Ryan have in it?
Lar was at his unbelievable best all other games....anyone suggesting a freetaker deserves an AllStar ahead of Lar would want to get their head checked out.

Lar Corbett scored 7 goals in 4 games including 4 in a Munster final. Paul Ryan while he had a very consistent year from placed balls was nowhere near as effective from open play as either Corbett, Mullane or Richie Hogan who all deservedly got all stars. All stars aren't picked in isolation and are based on the championship season as a whole to which Lar Corbett was excellent (final aside) and was favourite for POTY heading into the final. JJ Delaney by the same token was MOTM in the A/I final but due to a couple of mixed displays in the lead up to the final was overlooked. Also Curran, Cahill and P.Maher all had had very decent showing on a Tipp side that second best in the final and all more than deserve their awards. Cahill and Curran in the first twenty odd minutes kept Tipp in the game while Kikenny were well on top out the field

ANTI DUBLIN TO THE HILT DISGRACE
How is it anti-dub. I tipped ye to get three all stars. But my point from a few months ago still stands that the league doesn't matter a **** any more when it comes to All Stars

How many pucks did Paul Ryan have in it?
Lar was at his unbelievable best all other games....anyone suggesting a freetaker deserves an AllStar ahead of Lar would want to get their head checked out.
when was the last time top scorer in the championship did not get an all star what did sheff get his for

Name me the last top scorer in the championship who won an all star that had less scores from play that Paul Ryan this year.

We'll probably get three next year when we win Liam.

He scored 4-4 against a pi55 poor and totally demoralised Waterford team. He got just a goal versus a very limited Clare team and 1-2 against the poorest Cork team that I can ever remember.
In fairness he had a good semi and got 1-3 against us but failed to score or feature in any way in the Final. He did not deserve an All Star.

1. He scored 4-4 against Waterford.
2. He got a goal versus Clare.
3. And 1-2 against Cork.
4. In fairness he had a good semi and got 1-3 against us.
He did not deserve an All Star.
Quite amazing post really. Having read the first four statements, one would think you were making a case FOR Lar.

Re: 2011 Hurling All Stars
I think you will find he got 2 goals against Clare.
Whatever about the arguement for Ryan not getting one but to say that Lar didn't deserve one for his performances in the championship this year is wide of the mark. He scored 7 goals and 9 points in 4 games leading up to the final all from play. To dismiss the rest of his performances out of hand because he had a subdued final is wrong. I would say that you would find very few people who would agree with your assertion that Lar doesn't deserve an All star
