Kilkenny V Tipperary..Hurling Final 2011....04/09/2011.
The rubber match between what has been the two best teams over the past 3 years...
Kudos to Dublin for making Tipp work for their place in this final, likewise a game but green effort by Waterford, to rise from the horror of a routing, to temporarily raise the flicker to a flame, but the two best teams in the land will contest this one...
Will it be the last big occasion that we will see Henry Shefflin participate in? If so, then God speed you Henry, a unique talent...
A last hurrah for Brendan Cummins, memorable for "triple saves" in the space of 8 seconds? another legend...

I am still unsure over Declan Ryan/Tommy Dunne, they have gotten it right so far but thought they were far too slow to make changes when 4 of their forwards were making no impact v Dublin. Will be very interesting to see what they do with regards Brendan Maher and whether he starts and who drops out. If Maher is anywhere close to last years form them I would expect Tipp to win but if he is off the pace then it be a huge bonus for kilkenny as he was immense for Tipp last year

Looks as though Brendan Maher will not start the A/I final, tipp are a far better balanced side with him at midfield and Ryan at wing forward

Think the writing was on the wall once he didn't start the semi, not a bad one to spring from the bench. The Puke wrote:Looks as though Brendan Maher will not start the A/I final, tipp are a far better balanced side with him at midfield and Ryan at wing forward
Any word on Fennelly?

He looked off the pace when sprang off the bench v dublin. Advantage Kilkenny and Mick Fennelly here
Fennelly will play i'd say, 4 weeks with the proper rehab is plenty of time

Name the mystery hurler for 500 euro!!!
Righto lads need keen hurling eyes on this!
DTwo is giving away 500 quid if you can identify the hurler in their skills video on Youtube! Could be from anywhere though... possibly cork?

Can't wait for this game. Hoping to get a hill ticket but doesn't look to be happening. I have a feeling the Cats will get the cream. As Cyril Farrell said the other night if the Kilkenny full back line stay close to goal it will cut off the supply the Tipp forwards get for the crucial goals. Kilkenny will have to get into their faces like the Dubs did. If it's anything like the last 2 years we should be in for a cracker.

Re: Kilkenny V Tipperary..Hurling Final 2011....04/09/2011.
Looking forward to this myself, the end of the trilogy reminds me of the football a couple of years back between Tyrone and Kerry.
Should be a great game, a fit sheff will mean a better cats in the final but at the same time Tipp will be to prove they can beat them with or without.
KK will be out to prove a point to their neighbours, ive a feeling the hurt cats will be too hot to handle for the young pretenders in tipp, but who knows, if KK win by 8+ cody will stand down id say, if they lose you can expect this rivalary to continue.

I expect Tipperary will be favourites but I will go for Kilkenny to nick by 3 points with Henry MOM. One red card at least.

Captain (TJ Reid) on the bench......
The price of a poor performance the last day no doubt... Re-shuffling to take place after throw in no doubt.

Re: Kilkenny V Tipperary..Hurling Final 2011....04/09/2011.
Intriguing battle ahead. I really thought Cats would drive for five last year ... and hurling immortality. They came up well short - Henry's injury did not help but wasn't necessarily the deciding factor. Tipp have some lovely hurlers and after the previous year's disappointment they weren't leaving it behind again.
This year it's the Cats that are smarting and the same hunger simply cannot be in Tipp again. And Henry is Henry again. For these reasons I am leaning towards KK. Having said all that I'd say player for player/pound or pound, Tipp are slightly the better overall side.

Very hard to call. Anything could happen. If someone put a gun to my head (again) I'd say Kilkenny

Cats by a stretch - Tipp Half forward line couldn't mix it with the Dubs - Tommy walsh and co wont exactly roll out the red carpet. Cody has had 12 months to work out how to mark Lar Corbet who to date has made up for a misfiring half forward line. - Tipp wont score more than 1-13 and that won;t be enough.

Dunno OMAR - I think the Cats will win but I expect Tipp to score a good bit more than 1-13 - even in defeat.

Well done Kilkenny. Completely dominant. Tipp didn't handle the favourite tag very well at all.

Hate to say it but they got it wrong big time today. Granted even if they had gotten it right they probably still may not have won but they seemed to be slow to react and some of the changes seemed to have been preordained. But they will learn from it
