Re: The Rugby Thread
Good performance by the lads! 7 tries a good return. Earls simply not good enough though and why do Munster backs give away so many penalties? O'Mahony follows Leamy and O'Callaghan in this regard.

Great win for ulster last night, great way to bounce back from last week. Even more interesting was how tom court took brent to the cleaners in the front row!

The vote was open to the general public as opposed to those who live or who aspire to within 2km of the Rte studio hence the result.

Yer' right there Jayo. Written off by experts like Mossbags and yours truly, them Stripey hoors arose, Phoenix like** from the ashes of crushing defeat to prevail again.
But you cannot equate what is or isn't a sport, without discussing the relevant merits. Soccerball and egg-chasing are not sports, they're paid work (like OMAR does, arranging fiscal deals between co-operative shadows )
A sport is a time consuming exercise that you enjoy participating in ie: Gaelic Games.
An exercise/work: Golf, swimming.

great WUM by the way
So something is only a sport if you spend 10-20 hours a week training after your days work
The top players in rugby/soccer do get paid but theyre still playing a sport.
For the pros it is still a very time consuming exercise that they enjoy participating in

Given the result, I presume to win the vote you had to vote No ....

Re: The Rugby Thread
Munsters qualification hopes are better than Leinsters at the moment and 2 wins for Munster will get them into the quarters. Leinster need help from sides in other groups to qualify.Parouisa wrote:Ormond lad - I am afraid I rate Munster's QF hopes as very slim. A brave but probably fatal decision by Kidney to drop BOD as captain. For a man who has the knives out for him the decision is fraught. In reality he did not need to make such a decision and could have left O'Driscoll there til after the 6 Nations. Now the BOD camp are already in high dudgeon and on the airwaves moaning in indignation. Probably a right decision - and not unfair - but one he did not have to make. That could be a mistake.

I think the replacement of BOD as captain has been made in his own best interests. Who gives a flying fook what gimps are on Whineline or whatever voicing indignation. He's had the armband for the best part of 10 years, is struggling somewhat for fitness and has or will have parental duties to deal with.
Give it to someone else, (Best was a genuine candidate) Heaslip looks set for a long run so that's the call.

Re: The Rugby Thread
I was surprised at Heaslip getting it last year. Is he really captain material and someone who is pretty much guaranteed to be a big part of the next world cup?

Re: The Rugby Thread
Terrible to see Leinster go out. They would have had a real chance of taking Harlequins. Munster don't and will get a fair enough hiding. French teams once again sully the competition - despite Blanco and the rest looking for a bigger slice of the cake. Sickening.

Dont think Munster will get a hiding at all. we are more than capable of beating quins. The semi final will be as far we'll go as we'll nearly def be playing clermont and we'll def lose to them.Parouisa wrote:Terrible to see Leinster go out. The french want to cut numbers competing down to 20 as much as anything as they want more time for an expanded league with the top 14 expanding to a top 16.
The english are the real driver behind the money

Picking up tickets to the Ireland v Wales 6 Nations match today, always wanted to get to the Millenium for a game so super excited! Don't look forward to the journey though!
Surely a 6 Nations 2013 thread is in the pipeline? Boxty will start it for sure!

Re: The Rugby Thread
French and the English are in it together - they are also looking for a bigger share. As I said the French have some neck given the way nearly all of their clubs (except Toulouse) have treated the HC over the years.
I really don't think Munster have any chance at all. I don't rate them too highly tbh. They are not a patch on the Munster teams that won the HC.

Re: The Rugby Thread
So Jonny's gone to Racing Metro. Sounds like an offer he couldn't refuse. While I would have preferred to see him in a Leinster jersey next year I fully understand why he would look to get himself a bit of financial security in what can be a brutal sport and where careers can get cut short very quickly. Good luck JS!
