Rugby War Dances
The All Blacks have the haka, Tonga have the Kailao and Samoa have the Siva Tau - we, in Ireland, have nothing (except Ireland's Call)! Mind you the rest have nowt either - not even the French though surrender dances may be more their thing than 'war' dances ....
I propose the initiation of a war dance from this fair isle. A feast of movement designed to strike fear and trepidation into the opposition. A display of ruthless arrogance and aggression. Ladies and gents - I give you ....... Riverdance.
Can you imagine the lads strung out ( 0) in a line - tall lads in the middle (O'Connell, O'Callaghan, Toner) with the small lads positioned in height order out to the end of the line - bucking and lepping at Johnny Englisher!! Picture Strings (Peter Stringer to the rugby hating GAA flank on here ) as the female lead and BOD as the male lead. Prancing at the French front row with their guile - imagine the fear on Chabal's bearded visage!
Give it a go I say! Lets set the AVIVA alight!

It'd be great to see Chabal, Nallet, Mas & Co carry out this war dance ...

How about the Jerry Flannery Dance?
Take your partner (preferably French), raise your right foot high and fast and take them out with one swoop (all in time with the music of course).

I used to be a North West Clog Morris Dancer, danced at festivals all over England.
We were in London in the early 1980s and got attacked by members of the famed Chelsea shed.
Did ye ever get your head stamped on by a wooden clog with horseshoes on it? Painful.
Alas most of the ba####ds escaped as it is difficult to chase after people wearing clogs, but we really thrashed a few of 'em.

The Haka is some craic.. Remember when they did it against the French in the World Cup and when they finished they were nose to nose? Or when they did it against the Welsh who refused to walk away? Adds to the spectacle..
And what did we come up with? Irelands fecking call...

P - Morris dancing indeed. And you got a belt of a clog on the head for your troubles .... I presume the Shed Firm weren't wearing them so they de-clogged you (badly needed again methinks! ) to do it!
Glad you came out of it

Glad you came out of itOK - Would have been a shocking headline in the Sun otherwise - 'Bodhran Champion Paddy Morris Dancer Beat to Death with his own Clog' ....
The shed were unfortunate. Many Morris sides, nay most Morris sides, consisted of school teachers and social workers. We were GORTON Morris, spiritual home of Man City, inner City Manchester.
It was Paul Lowe who stood on the blokes head. At that time Paul was employed by the police as as unarmed combat instructor, I kid you not.
The original Gorton Morris faded away circa 1870. They marched down to the bridge on Hyde Road scene of the Manchester Martyrs escapade singing Croppy Lie Down. The Irish lads from Ardwick and West Gorton, being hardier than the Chelsea shed, bate the bejabbers out of the Morrismen.
True story. fascinating history to English dance and folk song, as Mr Kelly would have attested.

An awful lot of the English lads I know actually think Ireland's Call is the best rugby anthem of them all - they love it!
