Re: Cavan Manager
I suppose it's a case of unfinished business for Val.
What was the story with the motion of no confidence last time round?

Val doesn't take a pint at all so he may invoke a zero tolerance policy! Could be bad news for Breffni publicans!

As far as I know the vast majority of clubs wanted to ratify him, one club wanted to put forward a vote of no confidence which would not have succeeded, Val decided he didn't want to continue unless he had the full backing of the Clubs so he stepped down..
If V.A could bring us back to where we were in 2001, Division One League and Competing in Ulster, that would be some achievement! But the drinking culture was still there in his last tenure and before. There's still a feeling in the county that the celebrations after Ulster in '97 went way overboard.

I can't tell you how many "where did it all go wrong" conversations I've listened to from clientèle still saying we could have won in '97!!

Re: Cavan Manager
Well we have confirmation. Val Andrews and Terry Hyland have been ratified as joint managers in a unanimous vote by the clubs. 3 years with a review after two.
The appointment has received a mixed welcoming some asking why a man who failed to bring us success before has been called back, others pointing out that he brought a team in transition to an Ulster final where we could have beaten a Tyrone team who went on to achieve great things. What would he have done had he stayed on? Who knows..
It's a huge task but at least Hyland knows the score, knows the talent in the county and is familiar with our most talented prospects. And hopefully with the appointment just before the quarter finals some new talent will be explored in the coming weeks.
Best of luck to Val and Terry and here's to hope for 2011!!

Yes - good luck to both. I can't say they will enjoy GT backing next year though after this year's fiasco!

Must have their names on the back of a fag box cos' he won't need an A4 page......
On a serious note, these boyo's are off to a bad start. Given the amount of goodwill, support and encouragement that this forum provided all year, they haven't had the manners or cop-on to log on even, to thank us and all we did for Cavan in 2010.
Get on to your Chairman post-haste in the morning to address this issue....Bad form altogether Jon but I know you will take the matter on board....
Good luck for 2011 anyway..
