Cavan Manager
With tommy gone and still no manager in the frame with the county championship in full swing who do yas think is the man for the job. I see nominations were put in on monday and there seems to be a few on it! My personal choice would be Mcgath but cant see him taking the job...

Re: Cavan Manager
Canavan id love to have him but can the county board afford him? I hear peter kiles a few pound and with his few articles in the star and his work on TV3 they would have to pull out all the stops to get him!

Re: Cavan Manager
Darren Chapman hes over mullahoran at the moment supposed to be in with a shout least he knows the scene. Id like Mcgath cause he would command respect and has the experience.

Re: Cavan Manager
i have heard that banty has been approached by the county board.it's getting to be a joke, they still havent got a comity to pick the new manager.at least if its a manager that knows the club scene,he can pick his own players, from what he knows.if its an outside man then hes going to be shown a list of players.id like to see pete get it,but not sure yet.

Re: Cavan Manager
Wishing Val the best of luck. Met him on a good few occasions and is a very witty and knowledgeable football man. He could not do any worse than the prvious few managers but are the players there? Only Breffni posters can enlighten us on the matter.

Re: Cavan Manager
Val is around a long time and is a decent skin. Did ok with the minors - I think he also managed Louth four or five years ago and the Dublin juniors after that. Not too sure he has won anything of note though.

Re: Cavan Manager
His record of winning is confined to Sigerson I'm afraid.. I hope he does well, as RKF says he can be no worse than the previous 2 guys. If Pete McGrath was in the frame though then this is questionable decision. We needed a big name proven winner to bring the best out of the county, something we have missed out on yet again.. But Andrews was the last man to bring us to an Ulster final so here's hoping.
The players aren't there to be contending just yet. But I believe there is lots of raw material, players are being lost due to being over played and the drink culture really is killing us. We haven't had a manager who can get the best out of the talent that is there and mould them into a team.

Re: Cavan Manager
Happy enough with the two Val has alot of experience and Terry knows the club scene and hopefully could bring a few of our u21s into senior..
The drink culture is the main thing to be addressed its shocking what goes on..
Best of luck and hopefully we can see a cavan team we can be proud off...

As the story goes about a previous manager: Man being carried out of an establishment in Cavan on the night of a game by a few fellas well tanked themselves, outsider says to Cavan friend:
"Jaysus who's that fella he's in bad shape"
Friend - "That's the county manager.."
Outsider "That's awful, who're the lads carrying him?"
Friend "Thats the full forward line..."
