They are a thing of the past, the players and management should be allowed the freedom of the pitch to celebrate their achievement and not be harried by a load of plebs and fair weather fans....Can't think of any other sport in any other civilised country where this would be tolerated.....
Would you really want to be like everyone else though? And say if Cavan won the All Ireland I take it that you would just stay sitting in your seat?
You would be right, i would have absoluetely no business celebrating a cavan all ireland win
Sorry my apologies a Clare All Ireland win.

I have celebrated Clare All Ireland's from the stands....No need to join all the shitehawkery down on the field.....Twee-ness like this needs to be gotten rid of, especially when you have 30-40k roasters full of cider acting the jinnet below on the field

not really, we were rode bareback that year, we weren't going to be allowed win the A/I anyway, we were going to be stopped one way or another....Sean Kelly alluded to as much in his book......
pitch invasions are a curse on our society, up there with heroine addicts and single mothers

Not at all, just think that the gaa needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, i suppose you are all in favour of keeping the diddly idle music that they blare over the loud speaker at most county grounds in the lead up to a match

I think they should build a stand where the hill is but keep the bottom tier unseated so that it is still a terrace, im a member of the grab all association though and only thinking of the extra seating lol

I'll second that. If they built a tier of Premium, Corporate Boxes and a Stand above the Hill to "finish off" the stadium (as one famous Mayo poster once put it), it would look a lot better and capacity could be something like 100,000+.
When would that ever be full though?!

Re: Hill 16
It would be occaisionally full and it would make the noise in the stadium even louder leading to better atmosphere, i think it would be a great idea.
They could lower the prices for bigs games and get more money still, therefore filling the stadium and getting extra dosh.
Games it would be full for, a dublin all ireland final footy or hurling, an all ulster final (footy or hurling dare i say it lol), even an a big underdog in the final or something like galway v offaly would fill it.
The noise and atmosphere would be the main thing for me, im pretty sure U2 could fill it also haha

But the Hill makes the atmosphere at matches and it can do that because it's a terrace...

Re: Hill 16
The atmosphere would be louder if you had a stand built above it, it would also make the stadium look class, more class than it does.
