My day on the Hill
Last sunday me being a stingey nordie i wouldnt pay for the normal stand seats that most antrim people where taking and asked my father who was distributing tickets could he get me two hill tickets for me and the misus to which he willingfully obliged followed by calling me nuts to be on hill at the same time as the dubs.
Now ive heard the stories about the hill seen the bad and the good from the hill, but to be on it was an experience expecially given there was 5 Antrim supporters in the whole place. For the hurling we had the genuine dubs good craic bit of banter when antrim scored with me applauding along with my 4 comrades clapping nervously might i add as there where a few who looked quite angry, toward the end of the game though most dubs supported Antrim with the feeling of sympathy for them.
So on to the football 10 minutes in and it starts to really fill up the smell of drink if immense, the boys arriving late totally steaming, but i must say these ones where more loud they turned on their own team very easily and gave the ref hells abuse. However i have to say the bad press the dubs on the hill get is wrong the majority be in early and the minority who come late dont even have a clue about the game judging by what theyre shouting. It was worth the experience and worth experiencing for those who havent stood with the dubs on the hill.
Im sure Jayo will have something to say!! I got a text from someone in the canal saying i was sticking out a mile big saffron in a sea of blue, next time i think i'll wear blue - less embarrassing LOL

I'm too old for the Hill now NSG!! Some of the very best Dub supporters are on the Hill but some of the greatest a**eholes you will ever meet go there too! Behind the goal. I was in the Cusack and had to listen to some idiot singing 'I'd rather be a P*** than a Royal' for twenty seconds. He was one further verse away from a trip to a dentist.

Re: My day on the Hill
At one stage, I counted 25 or 26 members of the An Garda Suiochana on the Hill, yet when I scanned my eyes around other parts of the ground, I could not find any Gardai.
Is there a reason for this?

Are you long-sighted perhaps?

Re: My day on the Hill
Since the English for An Garda Suiochana is "Keepers of the Peace", I can only assume there is a major problem keeping the peace (within reason like, you know what I mean!) in that area of the ground. Why am I not surprised?

Did you notice the 8 fire engines and 400 GardaĆ on Clonliffe Road to prevent arson attacks from Meath fans?

I don't think the dubs are as bad as Rovers and Bohemains, more Gardai are needed for a Shamrock Rovers vs Bohemians match than an All Ireland Final.
