TV/Radio/Internet
Lately I have taken more of a liking to podcasts rather that watching TV. Usually when I revise for exams I try to find documentaries online to watch because most podcasts were american and generally the lecturer talked nonsense for about 20 minutes. Comedies are really good to listen to on MP3 player and can get audio versions of things such as mock the week, comedy store and so on.
Re: TV/Radio/Internet
Television as a relevant media is finished, only good for soaps and reality TV these days.
I'd use it now to watch the news or Sport and that's about it, everything else worth watching you can get online(documentaries, music) or DVD, (Wire, Soprano's, Cinema)
Don't know too much about podcasts GF, whats the craic there?

They're digital media files mossbags. Such as if you want to listen to some stand up comedy or radio programmes, you can download them and put them on your phone or mp3 player. I think listening to comedians is better than watching them on TV. I agree TV is becoming less relevant for media.
Re: TV/Radio/Internet
I think even better than watching or listening to comedians is reading all the crackpots who post on here
TV is slowly but surely going the way of the cassette tape, ditto the print media.
A veritable New World Order GF

Re: TV/Radio/Internet
Wouldnt say TV is going to become that useless. The programmes that TV stations broadcast are dead and buried thanks to things like RTE player and BBC iPlayer etc etc. Would still prefer to watch sports and films on TV. PPV event are a waste of time, one simple search on the internet and you can be watching it for free. There have been a big influx in different components on TV's in the past 3-4 years and now you can hook up your laptop to the TV. 5 years ago the only components a TV had were AV inputs and Scart sockets. Now they have HDMI ports, SD slots, VGA ports, built in internet etc etc
Even projectors are going cheap, you can by a HD ready projector for £200 and have a 100" screen on the wall. A 50" TV costs £600 and double the price for ever extra 10 inches.
While on the subject an electrical store did a deal, if you but a TV over £600 [could be £700) you get £10 back for every goal. Whoever fell for that deal must be sickened.

Re: TV/Radio/Internet
I think I might be more privy to this than most due to 'The curious case of the absent TV Licence and the disappearing telly' last year in my college flat.
I didn't miss it much, any TV show I wanted to view could be done over the web at any time from sidereel.
For live events I'd go to the neighbours or the cheap pub beside the gaff, or if I was badly stuck, look at the live streaming which isn't too good... yet.
