York Hospital Radio
I have a prospective members meeting at York Hospital Radio tomorrow night, the ideal starting place for those aiming for a career in broadcasting and journalism (e.g. me).
Am hoping it'll be interesting and entertaining enough, and that I'll be able to charm them into giving me prestigious 'membership' to work there.

Ah York Hospital Radio .. was that where Jonathan Woss started.
'I'd like to play a request for Pete in Ward 6. I just spoke to the consultant there Pete and this one's for you. The great Josef Locke with The End is Near. Also next up is for Jan - who has a life or death op tomorrow and we'll play Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult ....

ahh yes Jayo played this game many times when mentioning this venture...the worst three songs to play we decided would be:
Girlfriend In A Coma by The Smiths
I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight by Cutting Crew
The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve

Re: York Hospital Radio
And in reference to RMD's slightly more mature comment, I'd have to go for presenter...my dream is to be a radio presenter or sports commentator. However any job in broadcasting or journalism would suit me down to the ground. The good thing about that industry is you can do a whole mix of stuff at the same time (e.g. present radio shows and write for newspapers)

Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah is probably the most depressing song ever.

I think you'll do a good job if you get it Sami. I'll give you the same interview advice I give everyone else - relax and be yourself.

or we could just start GT Radio
I'll take the Breakfast Show, then Jayo can take over between 10am and 1pm for topical debate, Loyal can give his racing update. Essie can have the afternoon slot before handing over to our end-of-work show RMDrive.
Then Boxty can talk late into the night...

Re: York Hospital Radio
I would say sound enthusiastic and only play music that you think other people would like, so mostly chart and other popular songs, no radiohead.

A show isn't worth listening to if there's not Radiohead

Re: York Hospital Radio
A friendly and informative evening at the hospital radio last night - finding the place was a bit of a challenge (it's tucked away in a basement, entered through a back garden behind the hospital) but I managed to find it ok.
This was the 3rd of 4 "prospective member's meeting" attended by myself and 4 others (much older than me). Listened to the talk about the station and then had a look round the studios - very spacious, state of the art equipment in there. Overall a very positive set up.
Have applied for an interview, which will probably be next week.

I hope you don't get a job there Sami!! You shouldn't do anything that will stop you from posting on GT and for that matter my support is withdrawn, sorry but tough!

No chance of him stopping posting on GT. What would Essie do?
