Re: Dublin GG News
Jaysus lads a Dub fan posts a thread about the county looking to attract news and gossip and some of ye get suspicious and humpy. There are members here who didn't even start a thread on their upcoming championship matches.
Great thread mullins - keep her lit!

Said for ages that Alan needs a kick in the hole mullins. No harm to drop him - might concentrate his mind. Exactly what he needs is to use the grey matter a bit more and realise he is not the first name on the sheet - though his brother is!

No issue lads - If it stimulates debate well and good - clearly a misinterpretation of "house rules" on my behalf.

A kick in the hole or coaxed along.. Some players don't react well to a kick in the hole JC....We need scoring forwards and everyone pulling in the same direction..We won't know till we play wexford to see what way things are going in the camp....
But am i happy with Giller NO i hope he proves me wrong..

I think this will be the Dublin team to take on laois the only one carrying an injury is dotsie doesn't look a bad team on paper..Its time for these boys to put a marker down for the championship and dispose of laois with minimum fuss hope to god we don't become complacent ...With fallon on the bench its a good sign that the panel is getting stronger and tracey still to come back....Best of luck to all involved with the Dublin Hurling lets hope all goes well sunday.....

Re: Dublin GG News
Ronan Fallon has walked out on the Dublin hurling panel ...An all star nominee of late he will be a big lost to the panel....I think he had enough sitting on the bench on sunday getting no game time and watching forwards replacing backs.....Not a good sign of Dalys management to be losing a player of his calibre

Aye ... and then the GAA summer will truly commence! The gladiators will enter the ring - bringing with them the usual poise and panache .... and the expectant, loyal and knowledgeable cognoscenti! We have had the other skirmishes around the country - the empty grounds, the colourless football, the lack of passion, skill, sophistication and elan - the drudge ... the counties who just want to see the light blue enter the fray ... envious .. and full of admiration. For only when the Dubs commence the fray can the battle truly be deemed to have commenced - they know this - we know this. All eyes on Croker for the arrival of the Elite. Unfortunately people, you will have to sit through a very poor starter first ... like chicken wings before steak .... But the main course will come .. A veritable feast of entertainment - making your mouth water, your taste buds tingle ... and rest assured ... when all is done the (yellow) bellies will be stuffed!!

Re: Dublin GG News
I see a certain M higgins has been tasked with the throw in on this one
He of Cavan gaels v St Galls fame (dozen red cards and gross of yellows)
in addition to a controversial Teemore county final win a few years back
A straight and serious type of guy whose red card victims include work colleagues, neighbours, relations and former friends.
This will be his debut in a >50,000 setting so he will be keen to impress
My scources advise me that the more mischevious of his circle of associates have been reminding him of the serial leniency afforded to midfiled robustness from the boys in blue.
"Not on my watch" is the emphatic riposte
Watch this space I suggest.

Re: Dublin GG News
From the Hill
Dublin have made one change to their starting 15 for Sunday’s Leinster SHC semi-final against Kilkenny at Croke Park (2.0).
The experienced Liam Ryan comes into the attack at full-forward with Paul Ryan dropping to the bench.
Ryan was introduced as a second half sub in Dublin’s quarter-final victory over Laois (scoring one point) and will be looked to for leadership and ball-winning ability against the reigning All-Ireland champions who this year are hoping to write their names into the history books as the first team ever to win five Liam MacCarthys in-a-row.
Tomás Brady who had been an injury doubt earlier in the week has passed a fitness test and will take his place at full-back.
Opponents Kilkenny are unbeaten in championship action since losing to Galway in the 2005 All-Ireland semi-final - since then they have gone on an 18-game winning streak in the Leinster and All-Ireland series and are bidding to reach the provincial decider for the 13th time in 14 seasons, having missed out in 2004 after losing to Wexford in the semi-final.
The Dubs are bidding to reach the final for a second successive year. Last summer Anthony Daly’s men lost by two goals to the Cats in the Leinster final (2-18 to 0-18), with Martin Comerford grabbing both goals - one in each half.
The counties clashed in this year’s Allianz NHL Division 1 (March 21) when Kilkenny won by 2-21 to 0-23. Kilkenny led by 2-9 to 0-12 at half-time with Richie Power finishing as the game’s and Kilkenny’s top scorer on 2-7 (0-5 frees) while Alan McCrabbe top-scored for Dublin 0-8 (0-7 frees).
Last five Championship clashes
2009: Kilkenny 2-18 Dublin 0-18 (Leinster final)
2004: Kilkenny 4-22 Dublin 0-8 (All-Ireland qualifiers)
2003: Kilkenny 3-16 Dublin 0-10 (Leinster semi-final)
2000: Kilkenny 3-16 Dublin 0-10 (Leinster semi-final)
1998: Kilkenny 4-23 Dublin 0-13 (Leinster quarter-final)

Re: Dublin GG News
Its being tough being a supporter of the Dublin hurling throughout the years.. I remember playing Wexford in Nowlan Pk in the late 90s cant rember the exact year 97-98 when they had a top team we went down by 1 point if the match went on for another couple of mins we would have beat them...
We have often come close to beating a Hurling county. And then in 09 we eventually put Wexford to the sword..Off to Thurles last year and just bottled it in the last 8....The Believe just wasn't there..
Me being the eternal optimist when it comes to Dublin Gaa i never stop beleiving that Dublin can break the dispiriting cycle of perennial failures dating back decades for the hurlers and more than a decade for the footballers..
Twelve months ago,we made a breakthrough in leinster but the gulf in class between Dublin and the Cats was the speed they could do things at..Since that game Dublin have maintained there Div 1 status despite a topsy turvy campaign they came through a tough game against Laois that hopefully will stand to them on sunday. And hopefully Dublin we will do the small things quicker and push us a bit closer to the Cats..
There is an unreal expectation around the country that Dublin can make a big push this year..Because some people think because of our underage structures that we must be contenders..But the level between the Dubs -,Tipp Cork Kilkenny Galway, is huge just cant see that gap closing for a couple of years..Hope im wrong...
Whatever happens sunday i hope that we can get fallon back on board..Long term i would like to see Dublin hurlers stick with it and don't throw the hat at it.. We have lost so many young hurlers throughout the years by just letting them slip away hopefully these days are behind us..I honestly believe if this panel sticks together and with some great youngesters coming through Dublin hurling could be competing for Liam in the next 3 years..Anything we can get this year will be a bonus
