Joethedoc wrote:Sounds like the parents dropped the kids off in Croker while they went and did a bit of shopping. It's not a baby sitting service you know. If I was a player on that team I'd be disgusted that their so-called fans tarnished their moment in the spotlight. I think its not an anti-ulster thing its a antiscumbags thing. If one of them had their eye out from one of the flares you can guarantee they would be running complaining to the GAA that they had not done their job.
Really this is getting incredible. Unbelievably joethedoc some families can't afford a full day out for the whole family to Croke Park especially with the pure extortion that was the admission fee. 7 buses of St. Colman's students left from Violet Hill that morning (so they could be there to cheer on St. Malachy's)...it wasn't them who were involved in the "trouble". They were there all through the Vocationals game and were hardly up to much. The noisy group was the past pupils who mostly arrived just before the College game. The boys that got arrested were former pupils except one, a 15 year old student who got on the pitch after the match! Hardly a sin. And you're some craic talking about a flare being unsafe (didn't hurt anybody)...for me the most dangerous thing about the whole day was when the stewarts sat twiddling their thumbs watching young lads squeeze into a small part of the stand before finally realising (10 minutes later) that all it took was to move the cordon a wee bit further out to make a bit more room.
And who are we calling scumbags here? A lad that lights a flare is not a scumbag unless he jams it in someone face or shoves it someone's exhaust etc. A lad that throws a smokebomb onto the pitch after a game is not a scumbag unless he's trying to clang someone on the loaf with it (the smokebomb was aimed nowhere near anyone).
Seriously fellas you all must have went to awful quiet schools coz this is the sorta s*** young lads get up to and I'm sure all of you have made similar mischief if not much worse in your days.
All this over a bunch of 11-19 year olds. Incredible.

Daniel, once you resort to petty insults and cursing, it undermines your argument. There are some fans on here who are making a genuine effort to defend themselves in a respectable way, whether people agree with them or not, yet you come on here with guns ablazing.
As I and many others have already stated on this thread, congratulations to the Colman's team, they deserved to win. Nobody is trying to take away from their win. We are discussing the occurence of numerous incidents during and after the game. There is another thread set up for match analysis.

In fairness, I don't think that's what they're trying to do. A lot said on here is in defence of your supporters. I think everyone is just unhappy about the minority of supporters who behaved poorly - unfortunately they were supporting your school, so if anyone is tarnishing the reputation then would it not be them?

Re: Hogan Cup final - St. Colman's supporters
This thread has gone to the dogs altogether. Some good points were made, whether agreed or disagreed with, but some of the comments being posted are derogatory and have nothing in the wide World got to do with the issue at hand. Comparing the Church Abuse scandals to the 'abuse' the stewards gave to the supporters-what an utterly nonsensical comparison.

well until you read what everyone has said on the matter I don't think you're in any position to be making comments about opinions you haven't even read yet!
