tony mogga mowbray has eventually got the road out of paradise after last nights mauling by the mighty st mirren.
a few questions
1. how have celtic got so bad in a few short months?
2. will fans now appreciate the job strachan did?
3. how in jaysus can they not beat a team who havent bought a player in 30 months?!
4. will they now start buying "local" again just like martin o neill did with plenty of scots english and irish in the team who appreciate what it really means to play for the bhoys. what does celtic really mean to marc fortune?

The clue is in the question there RHM ......
At a time when the other half are broke, haven't bought a player in yonks, Celtic find themselves in a complete mess. When they won the European Cup in 1967 all the players were from within 40 miles of Glasgow! But its a Mickey Mouse league and has been for years and deteriorating rapidly. They need to get into the Premiership or they will become also rans in European football - like the Irish teams.

Re: Celtic
The SPL is getting worse, only one Champions league place next year and they will have to qualify. The wages they now pay players is nothing compared to 01-02 when Celtic were doing well in Europe etc. and had players like Balde, Larsson, Lennon, Sutton and Hartson.

Re: Celtic
Soccer alas is capitalism gone mad.
So Scotland cannot compete, neither can most countries.
So you have to be judged in your own environment, and even in Scotland, Celtic have been bad.
Rangers are skint, but can win the league in a stroll, and it does not bode well.
The only hope for Celtic and rangers is to get into England and the money.
With their fan base all over the world, and given premiership money, they could easily compete and possibly win it after a few years.
Remaining in Scotland, doom and gloom.
Unless we have the North atlantic league of Scotland, Portugal, Holland etc.
Because never mind Celtic and Rangers, look at Ajax. It would make you weep what money and debt has done to soccer.

Soccer now is a bit like the banks in the 00's. Anglo started giving out loans to everyone and anyone and the other banks had to follow suit or else be left behind. Now in soccer you have soccer clubs spending massive amounts of money and the other clubs have to keep spending or else be left behind.

Good analogy clash - but you won't have the taxpayer bailing out soccer - I hope!!
I think the best thing would be a merger between Celtic and Rangers .....

They'd probably still fight amongst themselves. The debt of soccer clubs however continues to grow and doesn't look like being reduced.

Re: Celtic
It looks like a fans takeover of the Rangers club is being considered with the aim of taking over Sir David Murray's majority shareholding.
It's a model that works successfully right across Europe but would be new to Britain which is still stuck in the 19th century model where the local rich factory owner controls the local football club.
Personally I don't know how successful this model would be in Scotland but is certain to involve a hell of amount of dole cheques if its Rangers fans we're on about
