Greatest Player not to win Sam
Who would you consider outside your own county one of the greats that never got a Celtic Cross.
One of Mine would be Tom Prendergast of Laois saw him destroy Dublin in tullamore 81/82 in the championship..It was one of the best displays i've seen from a player ever.....

In my lifetime:
Ciarán McDonald, Grham Canty, Michael Meehan (maybe too young to be considered a great?) Dermott Earley, Anthony Rainbow, Declan Browne
Hurling: Tony Browne, Ciarán Carey, Joe Canning

The opening post stated outside your own county.
It shows the breadth of knowledge on here that we haven't gotten our rightful contender into play yet.
On the team of the millennium in this category I believe, but as my Google is now in Chinese due to this disruption out foreign I can't check...

Re: Greatest Player not to win Sam
As Jayo has said-Ciaran McDonald, Ken Mort and I would also add on David Brady!
Willie Joe Padden let's not forget-I know I'm going against the rules here!
'Will Galway bate Mayo,
Not if they have Willie Joe!'

Am I to take it that you are referring to Jonsmith's nominations of Mickey Quinn (All-Star 1992) and his Aughawillian clubmate Frankie Smyth, who to this day, remains the top scorer in club championship football in the county (A total amassed in the halcyon era of the Willies between '84 and '98)...
