Re: Cavan GG News
It's going to be a long year. We're facing a dogfight to stay up now, players beginning to grumble already with McCutcheon rumoured to have walked during the week and McKeever openly displeased about not getting a chance.
Andrews not inspiring confidence and unless there is some pluses to be taken from this year then our managerial revolving door system will continue.

Re: Cavan GG News
Good win for Cavan. We let Sligo back into it when we should really have had the game out of sight at half time, kicked 14 wides also. Next up is Tipp in Thurles, need to be beating them and Offaly to avoid the drop I would imagine.

Early throw in down in Thurles and Cavan come away with a 4-10 to 14 point win. Well on top throughout. One more win should see us safe.

I sacrifice Tipster points each week picking our opponents. It seems to ensure we prevail.
Our goalkeeper today was Keith Fannin who hasn't played in goals for Cavan since the Fr Manning Cup in 1999.

It's an honour to join a team like Cavan in Division 3. Look forward to our clash in 2013.

Shame on you Boxty. Cavan have had plenty of success at this grade in the last couple of years, while Tyrone have had none. Neutrals should be favouring the success-starved county in this one (i.e. Tyrone).

BBC reporting that Cavan players met last night and asked for Andrews to be removed as manager. WTF is wrong with the Cavan setup? Could learn a lot from their U21's

Boxty reduced to Massey Ferguson for a few days. BIL visiting from Australia, apparently his other BIL's are unwilling to lend the man a vehicle to tip around in.

Re: Cavan GG News
Following a meeting of the Cavan players the team voted 33-3 against Val Andrews as the manager. This was communicated to Andrews via the county board and he immediately stepped down as Cavan manager.
Andrews was no genius but I think he deserved better than this. He tried his best and made the hard decisions. He also handled himself with a lot of class during the Johnston debacle.
So who do we turn to now? It appears Hyland doesn't want the job. Who would if we're being honest.. 5 weeks until the Donegal game.
Could be an option.

What is the word in Cavan, JS? Is this move likely to impact Kildare's championship chances?

Re: Cavan GG News
Cavan county board would seriously want to be getting the finger out and get their house in order. They have a good u21 team coming through but their seniors are in complete disarray; it's not something that's going to inspire the young lads to hang around when some of the American GAA clubs would be only too happy to add them to their ranks. It's great for Cavan football to finally have some hope of redemption...but it will be short-lived if these young lads are expected to bring Cavan back to the forefront of Ulster football on their own.
Whatever problems are going on in Cavan....the warring parties will have to find some sort of amicable truce very soon and bring some stability to the senior setup, for the sake of a good bunch of young players and for Cavan football as a whole.

Re: Cavan GG News
Lots of stories floating around TC. Some say that the meeting was called for the players to discuss their own performances without the management present and the management knew it was happening and were told that it was nothing about them. The discussion then escalated into questioning the management and a vote being taken.
Some others say that the meeting (In Virginia) was attended by a certain teacher on his long commute home. I personally find that hard to believe. The lure of Kildare would be far more appealing to him and he no doubt has visions of big days in Croker with himself at the forefront. If he proves me wrong and lets it be known that he would return under a new manager and scrap the move if desired then perhaps he's not the glory-hunter I think he is.
Personally I don't want to see a bit of him in a Cavan Jersey again.
At this point I have no clue who they will appoint if Hyland won't take the position. But they need someone fast. Donegal in the first round and we could be in for a complete annihilation.
