Re: Leitrim's prospects for 2010..
Good to hear. I might be in attendance if other commitments allow.
It's always a big ask for a team to make the return to senior the following year but the Aughawillan showed their determination getting to the second final in a row. I don't know enough about the opposition to make a reasoned call on the result. Very very young team the Willies have been fielding in the last while? I'd say the average age from Midfield Forward is 20 or so?

Thinly veiled "I may go on the rip in Ballinamore and take in the match while I'm at it" from Smithy, given that Prior's is only 3 kicks of a ball from the park.
The Willies have, through natural wastage, gone for youth with Barry Prior now thrust into a leadership role. Luckily for them the tremendous self-belief and commitment to the club, engendered by the Quinns, Flanagans, Priors and Gilheaneys among others, has stood them in good stead.
They are maturing nicely and will be a formidable force in the coming 3/5 years...
I'll be exploring the viability's or not of opening a tapas bar type enterprise in Fenagh by spending a week in southern Spain commencing on Saturday, so if you do attend, a brief report would be welcome, whether I can work this internet yoke out there or not is doubtful..

Re: Leitrim's prospects for 2010..
A big weekend ahead. Can't believe drumkeerin got so far. But they obviously deserve to be there on merit. Aughawillan have to go in as favourites but a few teams have taken drumkeerin for granted.
The senior final will be, as john connolly puts it every week, a very intriguing encounter. I expect manor to have too much for mary's. However Mary's full back line is very strong and if they hold Croal, Glancy and bruno Manor will struggle to get scores eleswhere. By all accounts though I hear mcDonald and Croal are flying. The game will be won and lost in midfield though. Daniel Lowe is a very accomplished midfielder and has a good physical presence something manor lack. Will they play O'Flynn on Jimmy Guckian or stick with poniard or deploy Maguire to full back. I'm looking forward to it...... And too monday in manor if The fenagh cup is brought North of the R280....

Well Aughawillan have made their return to senior. I didn't make the game in the end but they won by a point. Were comfortable throughout and Drumkeerin were playing with 14 men for the majority of the game after their full forward was sent off. A poor enough affair by all accounts. Glad for the Willies though, I hear Shane Flanagan and Morgan Quinn were the best on show.

Re: Leitrim's prospects for 2010..
Worst county final in a while. But well done to Manor. I'm certain they will start nex year favourites to win it again and equal their biggest rivals (dubious) 4 in a row.
Who knows they may even make it an unprecedented 5 in 2012. There are a few teams not far off their standar but nobody has near the quality of Manors panel.
They have 26 or 27 players good enough to play Senior Championship.

You're on line buddy...No realistic chance apart from the fact that ye' have very tenacious backs who have a points against ratio of about -8 all year...
Apart from Croal and Glancy ye' have no punch up front but the game AFAIK is in the Bee Park....Compared with the facilities in Kiltoom, a culture shock could be worth 4 points......And if memory serves me right (Aughawillian '90sh) a hoor of a foggy day....

Re: Leitrim's prospects for 2010..
Dromahair ladies were beaten in the All-Ireland Intermediate semi-final yesterday against West Clare Gaels the Munster Intermediate and Clare senior champions.
Not sure how the grading system works but it's quite strange that Senior county champions can play in their provincial and the all Ireland Championships at a lower grade.
Apparently Dromahair could have played in the Connacht Junior Championship had they wished.
Anyway they brought a rare Connacht title to Leitrim a few weeks ago.
Fair play

Our women were beaten in the Leinster junior football final a fortnight ago by Edenderry who won the Offaly senior title, our girls won the Wexford Junior title so I know where your coming from

No official word from the regulatory officials in Croke Park on either of these miscarriages of justice. Bet if either team had been from Cavan there would have been ructions and probably an odd 96 week suspension handed down.....One rule for us another rule for those who will endure more.
Given the treasonous acts perpetrated upon 2 of our teams this year, consideration should be given at Convention to boycotting all competitions in 2011....

Teach Boxty,
Liatroim,
20/01/2011.
A Chara,
The matter concerning the movements of GF have not, at this juncture, been drawn to my attention. As you can imagine, I'm dealing with a very onerous workload this week and can but apologise for not being briefed on this issue to date.
In the interim, your enquiry will be added to the pile marked "Pressing" but is not deemed priority at the moment......If I find however, that you have left a €20 behind the counter of the Abbey Bar for my benefit, your issue will receive my fullest attention and move to Item No.2 on Friday nights agenda.
As you are doubtless aware funding for and provision of refreshments are always at the top of the agenda
Electoral literature is being prepared at this point in time and should reach you by next week. Should you require further assistance with the early postering campaign you should contact your local area Director of elections, whom I'm given to understand is Omar (1890-22222222) .
Is mise le meas,
Boxty.

Will Clement Cuniffe be expected to carry the leitrim hurlers on his back again this year or will he be given a wheelbarrow to carry them

Clement Cuniffe is a legend. Were he born in Kilkenny he would have kept Shefflin on the subs bench for the past 10 years.
Were he born, God save us in Clare, ye' would have been composing lyrical ballads proclaiming "Nine is Fine" as a follow up to "Eight was Great"....
"One sniff does Cuniffe" and all that...

I am well aware of the magic in that man's wrists, my question was will he still be carrying them in 2011 or have ye managed to unearth any other players

Turns out the rumor was indeed true and he has thrown his had in with the Bawn men for 2011. This should prove to be very interesting indeed.

Apologies for not getting back to you on this one JS....I hope the Bawn lads have a bit of early work done in advance cos' Gerry likes plenty of hard graft.
Would they be receptive to Gerry's particular "style" of football?..Airey-Fairy types with snoods and leggings and white boots will get the hair-dryer treatment.

Templeport would already be playing Gerry's "style".. Indeed they know no other! This could be a match made in heaven, he can show then how do refine their game. As long as he doesn't take himself too seriously and impose any lengthy drinking bans he'll get on the finest with the lads, no Hollywoods in the team, maybe a few young lads needing toughening up. He may have to contend with a few local "experts" who have been known to stick their oar in.. If he sticks it for a year or more he'll begin to inherit some fantastic underage footballers.
