Re: Best of ......2010 Championship
Best game of the Championship: From a personal point of view, Meath vs Dublin produced its moments of spectacular but Dublin vs Cork while not football at its best, was very exciting.
Best Point: Colm Cooper's first (from play) against Down was a lesson in how to score points. Not exactly anything flash but Cooper makes it look too easy at times.
Best Goal: Cian Ward's goal against Dublin beats off stiff competition from JP Rooney's goal versus Meath.
Biggest Controversy: Its a draw between the Leinster Final's call for a replay and the debacle that followed Week 4 of JC's Tipster Competition.
Player of the Year: Colm Cooper
Funniest moment: Nothing stands out.

Best game of the Championship: Cork vs Dublin- Very tight match and enjoyable to watch.
Best Point: I think it was a James Kavanagh point from a very tight angle. Could have been against Meath.
Best Goal: JP Rooney's goal for Louth against Meath .
Biggest Controversy: Has to be Meath vs Louth in the Leinster Final.
Player of the Year: Marty Clarke. Showed his class all year.

Best Point: Any of the three Kevin McGourty got against Kildare, all pearls

I would agree with a lot of this but I thought Corbett's winning point against us was unreal. 2nd only to the one Joe scored at the death in Portlaoise against the Biffo's. Corbett would be my POTY. Shefflins goal in the Leinster Final also against my lot was hurling perfection personified but again this award must surely belong to Lar when not even John Tennysonn's hurl flying at him could prevent him finishing off beautifully one of the best goals ever scored in an all Ireland Final. That was the moment right there I new for sure I was wrong about Tipp and that they are indeed a great side. The Galway game was the making of them this year.

Satire becomes you Mossbags.
Lar's tap in the goal of the year?
Mind you sammy has a FREE (given the wrong way) as point of the year.
I think Winker's 3rd (or was it 4th) against Cork was point of the year.

The best thing about that whole day Paddy were the Antrim fans. They were the best craic I've seen in a long time, constantly decrying the ref for his bias to Cork over themselves, 'shur,we're only a wee county'
Reminded me of being an attendee in my youth of the All-Ireland semi's and Antrim, Galway as well as Tipp/Cork or Offally/Kilkenny always a guaranteed presence
Good times

Jaysus, CJ was playing in 1891???? I know his dad played for St Galls for about 35 years, but that beats everything.
And can anyone explain why Cork kicked 9 points in the 1891 final against the Dubs, when as Jon has pointed out, only goals counted for anything.
The Dubs, always being smarter than Corkmen, WON by 2-1 to 1-9.

Re: Best of ......2010 Championship
When Antrim beat us in '09 only a goal would have got us a result in the last minute of the game, Jayo took a shot from 25 yards that was easily blocked but at least he went for it!! I don't know whether it was because I'd heard how good he was supposed to be or what but something about watching this so called top class footballer score a useless point to get his own tally up really made me chuckle..

When Antrim beat cavan in 09 What?
And CJ only played 40 minutes last year against Tyrone. Scored 4 points from play, and got fouled for two more when he took one step with the ball. Tyrone do that.
His last point, with 14 Tyrone men between him and the goal was something to behold. Mind you as it was Tyrone there were probably 14 men between him and the goal for all of his points.
As the manager had holidays booked for the end of July he dropped CJ for the next game. Can't have people scoring that many from play.
Of course all of this was football. The lad is a hurler.

Re: Best of ......2010 Championship
It's your county pat so obviously it won't ever be amusing to see someone like that representing your county but to a neutral it has a certain comic value..
I mean why bother going to the effort of togging out for a game playing 40 minutes and scoring 3 nice points, then get the ball in the final few minutes and not try to win the game? Even if it was almost impossible? Everyone could see that that the lad has no team spirit in him but you'd think he'd at least have lobbed it into the goalmouth, for appearances sake if nothing else.. Such blatant lack of desire is rarely seen, I found it humorous..
Sure Kildare were never going to score a goal in the final second against Down the Semi-Final with everyone on the line but at least they tried!
The fact that you're attempting to excuse him for it adds to the show!!

Lob it into the goal mouth to who?
Was it you who complained that Bernard Brogan in his one wild kick didn't pass it and cost Dublin the game against Cork? Again, pass it to who?
And contrary to belief, and m,aybe reading I think it was the "Hornet" comic that had "Gorgeous Gus" CJ does npot manage Antrim. Alas that is some lad from derry, who is not very good.
Did you really believe that players just turn up and say "I will play for 40 minutes today?" Maybe in cavan.
No CJ got on because the immensely talented Sean Kelly was taken out of the game as he was threatening to be MOTM.
I doubt we will see either CJ or Kevin or Ciaran next year. Building an extension to keep the baubles in. If we add in Melissa, must have about 14 all Ireland baubles between them.
And the da already has about 4.
Soon be rivalling the Spillanes at this rate.
And all of this from Man United fans.
