Re: Best of ......2010 Championship
Nobody's denying that the lad looks moderately talented and would surely shine at club level, he did well in the All Ireland Club Final against that team from... Clare was it? But it's comical how Antrim folk talked about how they had the players to compete if they got them to play, then they get CJ to play and he won't even attempt to win the game!! I'm not saying for a second that Antrim were going to score a goal, that's not the point, just like Antrim were never going to beat Tyrone that day but they showed up didn't they?!
A friend of mine insisted CJ must have had lumped on a Tyrone win but that was just stupid, he would have got far better odds on himself to score exactly 4 points.. You're good with conspiracy theories pat what do you think?
Ah God.. The more we discuss it the funnier it gets...

Re: Best of ......2010 Championship
Best game of the Championship: down v kildare it had the lot last minute blocks comebacks and some fine scores. the sub-plots re dermot earley and downs track record in semis only adding to the occasion.
Best Point: benny v kildare off the outside of his boot unbelivable
Best Goal: mugsy v antrim i know it was eraly in the year but to beat a couple of defenders and hit an unstoppable shot show the level this man is capable of. was probably one of tyrones better forwars all year as he never stopped showing for the ball only maybe penrose had a better year.
Biggest Controversy: that goal in that final with that ref getting pushed about.
Player of the Year: had down won clarke - no real standout players brogan had a good year as did early so did half the sligo team up until the connaught final ditto for the louth team.
Funniest moment: the louth managers post match interview with the lovely joanne cantwell and hearing a man with a dundalk accent and a lisp say. that had the ref any balls he would come out and say he made a mistake . on live radio coverage!

I know it began with a C. Was it not cavan?
Oh, they went out in Round 1.
Sure the Clare team only had to get past the Cork and Kerry champs, and when did either of them have a football team?
They also beat the favourites handily in theb semi......
CJ? Best hurler in his family, Melissa is obviously better with a stick but technically that is camogie, and the 2nd best footballer in the family.

They scraped past Cavan Gaels, a truly terrible club side who despite winning 3 in a row have never made inroads in Ulster. And if they weren't so arrogant they would have beaten Galls!
Exactly pat, glad you agree, the Clare team beat the Kerry and Cork champions?! How could that happen if anybody in the successful counties actually cared about the Club All Ireland? I mean an ageing Dessie Dolan 5 years past his best dragged Garrycastle to a Leinster final! Fair play to Galls though they took full advantage of this lack of interest and brought home some easy All Ireland baubles.

Best game of the Championship: Sligo vs Roscommon
Best Point: Coulter's against Kildare probably. Outside of the right in croker when it matters.
Best Goal: I'll go for james kavanagh's rounding the keeper
Biggest Controversy: Martin Sluddan and his merry men getting it so so wrong
Player of the Year: Berno
Funniest moment: Joe Sheridan's interview after Leinster final. Sure if it wasn't a goal it was a penalty (or a penalty try)

Is arrogance a common trait in Cavan?

The gaels have without doubt suffered from it but I would not tarr them all with the same brush!

Galvin tells O'Leary to retire!
Kerry's Paul Galvin and Cork's Noel O'Leary have crossed paths on many occassions.
01 October 2010
Paul Galvin has jokingly told Noel O'Leary to retire after the Cork stalwart finally got his hands on an All-Ireland medal last Sunday week.
Kerry workhorse Galvin and O'Leary are huge rivals on the pitch and have been involved in numerous spats over the years, but a congratulatory text sent by Galvin after Cork's Sam Maguire victory over Down would appear to have improved relations between the two.
The text read something along the lines of: "Congrats - now would you please retire and leave me alone".
A Cork source told The Irish Examiner: "The text went down very well. It wasn't your usual stuff which would have been difficult to take at face value anyway - Galvin's message came with a twist, an edge, which was typical of him. But I'd say it was appreciated."
