I'm close to tears but there's one legend missing . . . George Berry, the greatest known to football.
On the subject of haircuts, when I was a kid in the late 80's early 90's it was all the rage to go to the barbers and ask for a Bully, you could still do it in Wolverhampton now and gauranteed you'd walk out with the famous grade 2 all over, now that's a man bigger than just the game he played, up there with Ali in that sense!

I'm suggesting a few phrases that those of you who may watch this shambles would hear repeatedly tonight:
Great save there Shay.
Oh! FFS Kilbane ye bollocks.
Pull your finger out Robbie and work for him.
Kilbane you effin eejit.
Smashing stuff there Dunne, great last ditch tackle.
What's that coont's name again in midfield.
These frogs are as bad as ourselves.
Oh! shite...1-0 down and 27 gone.
There's that shortarse Bono in the VIP section....grrrrrrrr.
Sarkozy's bird looks a cracker to be fair.
That twat Keane musta worked in air traffic control, all the signalling he's doing.
Oh! shite Kilbane............2-0 down now.
How come that fooker Bertie got in there...................all over..0-2.
We can do these gimps in Paris...all not over yet In my backside.

Re: Will Ireland win
Toulalan is a huge loss for the French! Best defensive midfielder in the world.
His absense is probably why Andrews and Whelan are doing middling to well! Still a moment of magic from Thierry Henry and its goodnight South Africa 2010.

We are sooooooooo limited. 100% for effort but way short of standard required.

Sea The Stars goes to France, wins the Arc the Triomphe.
France go to Ireland, win the World Cup Qualifier.
And people are stupid enough to think we are better at soccer than we are at racing!

That goal was always coming, especially when we're missing chances like the one Lawrence should have stuck away. I see Zinedine Kilbane did his best to give away a second there aswell. If we don't nick one in the next 10 minutes then good luck to SA.

Re: Will Ireland win
They were always going to score.
How Liam Lawrence managed to miss that chance is beyond me, fair enough it was a good challenge, but he should really have finished it.
and Kieran Mcgeady at the end there, good save, but he should have finished that.
first half we were good, second half total sh*te.
would be a miracle if we made it through.

sorry my mistake, it was Whelan who had the late chance. McGeady was on as a sub.

Re: Will Ireland win
From about the 60th minute until the goal I'd say Ireland had the ball for less than 2 minutes, your not going to win inviting the other team to come forward.
Some of the Irish players look very awkward on the ball and struggle to string together a few passes. Also when they pass and move they hide behind French players and there is nobody showing for the ball like the way Carsley and Keane used to in the past.

Re: Will Ireland win
Pretty poor match on the whole. We needed more support in the box during the first half and second half we invited way too much pressure on to ourselves.
Spot on about Carsley and Keane. If we had that midfield in this game there's a chance we could have reversed the scoreline as I didn't think France were much better in the middle so the game was definitely up for grabs there.
Not sure why Best came on for Doyle, a change was needed but I'm not sure that was it. Best isn't a quarter of the player Doyle is and Doyle looked like he still had plenty of running left in him. I was surprised Stephen Hunt wasn't on earlier though.
Still we're only half way so I'm not giving up hope just yet as I didn't think France were much better with the exception of Anelka who looked dangerous enough

I think Leon Best is more of a goal threat than Kevin Doyle and has been playing well for Coventry this year.

We definitely needed more of a goal threat but I think supply to the strikers may have been more the issue in the second half. I'd have put Hunt on for ten minutes first to see if he could whip some crosses in for Doyle and Keane. If that didn't work then fair enough make the Best change and see what the lad can do.

I think Best looks lumbering ...... at best! Doyle is always taken off - never Keane! I thought Andrews and Whelan had their best game for Ireland in the first half but that French team is not firing on all cylinders and there is a clear problem with the manager. They still had more than enough for us though.

Looked like our club team really. Honest to a man but limited and leaderless.

Re: Will Ireland win
Ireland gave the ball away far too easily in the middle of the park, and when they did get withinh sight of goal opportunities were wasted by fouling or being offside or just having a shot from far out.
France in Paris at 1-0 down is going to pretty tough.

Ireland need to drop Doyle if they want a chance of scoring. Doyle has great workrate but hasn't scored for Ireland in ages.

Re: Will Ireland win
We better stick to topic here or the Topic Police will lock us up!!!
Personally i think we have to pick a side that will go there and have a go at the French, they are renouned for making a balls of things at home and an early goal would make them sh1t themselves!
Problem is, while we have attacking players most of their score rates for Ireland is rubbish!

Dunno Clash - seems he's always the one to get hauled ashore ..... I think Robbie could do with an early shower a bit more ...
