Club Football/Hurling/Camogie
Juat curious.
How many posters on here are playing regularly with their clubs?
I'm back playing in goals for my club after a two year absence. Play intermediate (our highest team) and play junior when their keeper is away.

Re: Club Football/Hurling/Camogie
Well done old.
I used to have a similar problem in the past, when we were tight for numbers I'd be moved to centre or full forward (we don't have many accurate point-kickers) and the sub keeper step up.
Had enough of that so decided to drink heavily, and let the fitness slide a bit! Now I know that I'll be between the posts no matter what

Re: Club Football/Hurling/Camogie
was a bit of a play anywhere player myself when i was playing - havent played for a long time thinks to a personal trainer who f**ked up my back.
I remember playing under age football and we played in q/f of championship and i was picked in goals - it was my best position - the game ended in a draw 0-08 apiece and for the replay i was selected at full forward - needless to say we won.
Last hurling game i played was 3-4 years ago - i started the game at corner forward however at half time i was moved to full back to rough up a full forward who thought he was the big man hitting a couple of young guys every chance he got - managed to hold the cnut scoreless too. Sadly the back injury meant i was forever pulling my hamstring so i just packed it in. Would love to be back at it though.

i am goalie in and out of senior team over the last few years ( was in this year)but currently out for season with bad injury.
have played a few games out field @ ytouth level once scored 3-3 in corner forward @ u-16's and my last minor match was at full back and havin to hit kickouts as well . but always wanted to stay between the posts even though a few people have tried to persuade my to try my hand out round the middle, not gonna happen as too slow and not fit enough for that craic

Covered most positions except the 8 & 9 don't think i ever played there. Making up for it now as I don't move from the middle at all anymore (or so I'm told usually by the losing team)

Cheers Rich! Think it's looking like being this Sunday, but nothing definite yet. At least we've promotion sealed, only the second time we've been in a final in the 9 years of senior I've played. Hopefully we'll have something to show for it this time
I hear Curry were unlucky last Friday.

Cheers Old.
The first-teamers was what I'd heard Rich. Seems a bit unfair when one team exploits the gap in the rules. Still though, at least promotion to Div 3 was secured.
I'd fancy you're Intermediate team to come out of their group in the Championship, and if they do it's likely we'll be their opponents in the quarters..... hopefully they'll be unlucky at that stage as well

Re: Club Football/Hurling/Camogie
I play cantre full forward for our hurling team currently top of our league, only a junior team but really enjoying it. Ive played centre full back and centre back and also a very short stint during a pre season in mid feild but totally hated it.
Going to return to play a bit of reserve football next year after a good few years away from the game, always enjoyed football but hard to find the time to play both.

As soon as the Antrim footballers have a bit of success, everybody wants to be a Paddy Cunningham!! Even the 35 year olds .....

The adult ladies team I help manage are in the semi final of Championship tomorrow night.
Its particularly special to me as I set up the team only 6 years ago and I used to play for them!

50-50. We have played this opposition twice this year, we won one game they won the other. We have home advantage but sadly our full forward who has scored 6-12 in our 3 championship games to date has broken her foot
She's a huge loss but hopefully it will motivate the others to do it for her!!!

Re: Club Football/Hurling/Camogie
Shinners as any "good manager knows" you should be developing both feet and not be letting of the hook so lightly, jaysus when Mr cluxton was a young fella (mind you the games where still 21 plateyrs a side-maybe not a good example)Shinners wrote:sadly its her potent right foot thats broken!
Its all those pansy boys fault blame beckham & rooney break a little bone all over the papers and the need plastic surgery so now what happens full forward breaks an ole bone and needs 68 weeks recovery time and a further 2 days to recover from the operation.

We won by a point! We were 3 points up at half time and they came out in the second half and scored 2 goals. Our girls rallied and we went on and won the game! Unbelievable!
We will play our fiercest local rivals Na Fianna in the final - sssssh don't tell Jayo!!!
