After watching antrim progress from junior to the intermediate final this year, im wondering is the camogie structures better at creating development.

I have said before that intermediate teams should be in the Christy Ring Cup and so on, this would be similar to the intermediate camogie championship where antrim will meet wexford seconds.

I think that style of system has potential in hurling, it can provide the opportunity for smaller teams to be playing bigger names and so on.

Just a thought as we approach the all ireland camogie finals, when the junior intermediate and senior games will be played on what is a brilliant day out, been to it a few times and not much beats it in terms of noise atmosphere and kids enjoying themselves other than the hurling final itself.

I've often thought of this NSG, but for both football and hurling! I feel that the current hurling structures are a good start though.

Are you proposing the end of the Intermediate and Junior Championships as they currently stand and having the teams that compete in the Intermediate and Junior Championships moving to the current Senior hurling structures?

I would think it would be a goer, with the only negative being the amount of club games that could be affected, I'm surprised Jim hasn't had a word on this!

Up the walls for the last few months only starting to get some time now.
BE anything that cuts into the club calender is not a good thing, one only has too look at the conditions that county finals were played in last weekend and sorry these are the peak of a career for a lot of lads.
Structures are nothing to do with quality and at present in hurling KK and Tipp are so far ahead all the other teams are glorified intermediate teams we know that next years AI hurling final will be between these do due to back door systems which add extra games but eliminate shock or surprise.
The only surprise will be if someone else wins Leinster or Munster.
Football a different story, far far too many games due to all counties bar one entering a senior team.
Again the final will be between Kerry, Cork, Dublin and possibly Mayo don't think there is anyone else there at that level (Mayo as they seem to have added big time to there game and don't look near as flakly as they have in the past).
Really need to go back to knockout to advance senior AI.

By my statements I would seem to be backing NSG argument but what county will drop down and treat a secondary competition will full respect I think I remember something called the Tommy Murphy cup????

Completely agree Jim, the hurling tiers to be honest appear to be working with regards the lower tier counties that take part but the problem with the football championship is that every county feels they have a devine right to play for the Sam Maguire Cup and treated the Tommy Murphy with complete contempt. It will take a personality transplant from some of the weaker counties to realise that a tiered system may benefit them greater than the current system.

Something that adds to either of the club calenders is only a bad thing, we should not be playing championship finals in October/November, however the club scene now appears to be the back water of the GAA!
