Ladies football and Camogie
Just thought id raise this topic on here as there is a couple of players on here from these codes.
If the idea of joining up with the GAA is more or less dead in the water why do the ladies boards not affiliate, have a rotating presidency if need be?
This could lead to them having better finances leading to a female national venue ie a female croke park from which they could generate more funds through concerts etc to advertise and sell their own sports, seeing as the gaa is pretty ignorant to them in a lot of cases if we face facts.
In cork the camogie board have a county pitch of their own (the only one in ireland as im aware) this should be an incentive to build upon, a 30k stadium would be ideal for the female gaels. However through time it would also lead to each county having a female gaa venue without them having to go begging for gaa pitches to play games on.
This would make female sport even more independant, lets face facts here the gaa isnt full on female friendly, they wouldnt have to run their org based around what the men say (as women where the trousers in most modern relationships anyway lol).
They could control tv rights better, ie more camogie on the tv, as it stands its only on once per year the finals, this is not the fault of the gaa but of the camogie board, through joining together with the ladies football board they can use their expertise in marketing.
Seriously now, whats everyones thoughts on this?
No Bull **** replys please esp from Loyal

Re: Ladies football and Camogie
I think the Danny Lynch's successor is a lady??
Incidentally NSG I note that the Camogie Association are looking for a Commercial and Marketing Director - you could do worse!! See link below!

If you don't get that you could apply for the Kerry Secretary job!
ps I don't think we should go down the road of separate infrastructure for women's games - waste of money. Also TV rights etc are demand lead and I doubt the demand will result in any pot of gold for the ladies - no insult intended.

Re: Ladies football and Camogie
The Ladies Football seems to get more coverage due to their deal with TG4 maybe the camogie side should look for a similar type of deal. I know everybody has a right to play in Croke Park but the crowds they get for the Ladies finals are lost in Croke Park, A smaller venue might create a better atmosphere and make it seem not as dead on tele.

I'd know some of our lady footballers fairly wellish Clash and their dream is to play in Croker as much as any lads is. Try telling them they shouldn't be allowed and they wont remain ladies for long. In fairness its only the finals that get played in Croker.

I know they have teamed up with the under 21 hurling final but the crowd still seems lost maybe play it before a hurling semi-final.

Re: Ladies football and Camogie
Got to say i think the response is fairly decent.
In response to to JC it wouldnt so much be individual structures as stadie they would maintain there current level of link up with the GAA which isnt very good and from what ive heard shows no sign of improving very much. It would be more about linking the ladies football and camogie up, together they would be far stronger.
With regards to what clash said about the dream venue, totally understandable, they are as gaelic as the next irish person but croker is now a massive stadium, would they not prefer the atmosphere in their own new state of the art stadia all seater stadium which would be named by women and run by women.
I think its something the national executives of camogie and womens football need to sit down and sort out, at a bear minimum the camogie board need to learn a lot from the football board with regards pr. This could all be facilitated and supported morally and financially by the GAA.
