Re: Armagh v Derry
A soon to be exiled former posting sensation of this very forum suggested otherwise not long after Donegal had knocked Derry out of the 2009 All-Ireland Championship, Mugsys! Subsequent competitions run by the wonderful JC would indicate that that sensation was the most knowledgable poster on here. Hence I believe JB will be Derry manager by 2011.

The main reason though is because i really think Toner will be needed at misfield which means someone will have to make way from the half forwards as Vernon will move there. So i think Mackin will make way from there. I think Mackin would be more usefull as a sub for last 15 minutes as in the Down game.
Mackin seems to have taken on Paddy McKeevers role as the impact sub. Mackin should come on in the last 10-15 minutes. When he played in the first game against Down he could find the space but couldnt kick the ball to anyone, whereas he was used more effectively in the second game and done some damage.
Re: Armagh v Derry
I doubt I'll have to suss out the Bald Eagle's opinion on whether another Bald eagle will be taking over Derry in 2011. Very much doubt it some way, If they were going to appoint JB it should have been done before Crozier got the job. There possibly might be a chance he would work as an advsior to Henry Downey at a future date but there wouldn't be much love for him at county board level from what I hear.

Re: Armagh v Derry
I reckon Aarmagh for this one. I heard Stevie McD being interviewed on the radio yesterday and I think his attitude represents the kind of form that Armagh are in. He said he is really enjoying his football again and is in the best shape he has been for the last few years. I know people are saying that Derry are not as bad as their league form suggests however what makes you think that they can improve from last years championship form? Armagh by 2.

Re: Armagh v Derry
Armagh look tempting enough at 6/5 and should have the beating of Derry on form but have a feeling Derry have had their minds and bodies focused on this fixture from a long way off and the Celtic Park factor may well swing it their way in this one. Whoever comes out on top here takes Ulster imo.

Armagh did it a few years ago.

I meant in the last 60/70 years Armagh did it in 2005 and Cavan did it in the 40's

I think Derry will win. Its not looking good for Armagh. McDonnell has kicked some beautiful points/frees.
Re: Armagh v Derry
Very tight and defensive. Both sides mirror images of each other. 2 forwards each. Both with a sweeper.
Likely to come down to frees, or else one more goal from either side should decide it.

Great goal by Armagh there, great ball in and Clarke took it down and finished well. Armagh should close it out now.

He'll be safe enough, as the crowd will be too busy trying to get their hands on Cassidy.
And not a great surprise to see P.B. duking out of taking the penalty.

Justice done with a great save, Moriarty got the ball and Bradley made the most of it.
Ref's been poor all round.

Re: Armagh v Derry
Decent performance by Armagh, and well worth their win. Can't see them winning any trophies this year, but they are young and will get better.
Having said that, Derry were pathetic. No ideas, no positivity and only 1 forward, who then managed to get himself sent off. 1 point in 45 minutes after their goal. Perhaps Cassidy was looking towards the qualifiers, but it is hard to see where the improvement will come from.

Re: Armagh v Derry
Not to forget that it was a damp pitch, the new rules havent helped either. Armagh need and will improve. Jamie Clarke is Ronan Clarke a few years ago. Next game R Clarke will be back. Looking forward to it. It will defintely be a different clash than that in the qualifers last year with Armagh playing more attack minded football.
Armagh had a very solid defence in the second half, and PB was very limited.

Re: Armagh v Derry
I'm not sure that they will be more attacking GF. They were more defensive today than I thought they would be. O'Rourke had the wing backs flying up the field in the league final, but there was none of that today.
A good win, although Monaghan will be better than Derry.

Re: Armagh v Derry
If Clarke is back fit, we will be attacking a lot more. Armagh never play well in first half, never have. Same can be said for most teams of course but Armagh upped the tempo in the second half. Fitness shone through but it was a scrappy game. I would also say that the game wasnt too great because of the new rules.
Re: Armagh v Derry
How is Deegan allowed to referee?
That was worse than Dr. Cullen - gate. Derry robbed.

Re: Armagh v Derry
Armagh were the better team Loyal, Derry were terrible and didn't deserve anything from the game, that's the height of it. They even had a chance with a fortunate penalty and didn't take it.
