Re: Ronaldo moves to Madrid for £80M
For another £20m they could have bought Newcastle and have top class players like Xisco, Barton and Martins.

Sounds like good work
if you can get it. I say fair play to them for whatever they can get
out of the clubs, look what they are making of these players through
merchandising and sponsors not to mention prize money they get for
their clubs and crowds they draw in.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The whole point is the CLUBS are not making money. Chelsea and Man United are over £700,000 in debt. Liverpool are heading that way, and Real Madrid are always that way.
Martins of Newcastlle would be quite a good buy in my opinion.
As for Ronaldo, I always reckoned he would struggle in Spain, and you could get him back on a free in a few years.
However he is now a better player, but may struggle for a while because the Spanish League does not have 16 poor sides in it, and the clubs have defenders who can defend.
I mean Vidic wouldn't get on in Spain, in England they think he is great.
All in all a good move for United because Ronaldo didn't want to be there.
In one year from now how many on here will be saying he is the best in the world? Probably trying to tell me that is O'Shea now.

I think outside the top 6 in Spain the rest of the teams are fairly poor same as the premiership. Another note I see that Deportivo Alves(the team Liverpool beat in the 2001 Uefa cup final) have been relegated to the 3rd best division in Spain.

Re: Ronaldo moves to Madrid for £80M
So third division Spanish teams can make the UEFA final and premiership sides cannot get past the last 16?
I didn't realise the Spanish were that far ahead.

The 3rd Division also includes B teams which shows the lack of teams and how poor their overall league is.

No La Coruna are still in La Liga, Alaves are the team that are in the 3rd best division.

As did I and won money on it.
I confess however that "The Guardian" gave chapter and verse on this transfer, wages and all, on 4th APRIL.
Yes, OVER TWO MONTHS AGO.
Did anyone actually think he was staying, well anyone who saw his alleged strop at being substituted against City, and then criticising Sir Alex for his tactical naivity against Barcelona?

Not to wish bad on another human being but hopefully he'll be the next Peter Barnes, Tony Daley etc, etc. A night out (or in!) with Paris Hilton is a start .......

He will never be the player Peter Barnes was.
Barnes was absolute class. Saw him score two crackers against West Ham one day.
Mind you Brooking scored two for the Hammers.
Now he was a better player than Ronaldo, the Portuguese one.

Yeah P but with wingers its all about consistency. I have seen so many of them burn bright for a season or two and then defenders cop them on and soon they are gone.... Thats why I admire Giggs - he has done it consistently for well over a decade.
