Ronaldo or Zidane?
In 50 years time, when I sit down to read the football section of my sporting chronicles, the period from 1994 to 2010 will likely be dominated by two players - Ronaldo and Zidane.
There'll probably be something at the end about Messi and C. Ronaldo, greatness just beginning and Baggio and Romario at the start, greatness at an end. Somewhere in the middle, magicians like Roberto Carlos, Cafu and Rivaldo will be mentioned, Ronaldhinho will get a chapter of his own, and an Italian defence consisting of Nesta, Cannavaro and Maldini will be talked about. Henry, Beckham, Bergkamp, Hagi, Batistuta, Xavi and Ayala will be in there too.
As will Roy Keane with special reference to that game in Turin - the greatest 90 minute performance in this era, ironically shading Ronaldo's hat-trick at Old-Trafford and Zidane's heroics against Brazil in 2006.
But I wonder when all is said and done who will go down as the greatest of the modern game - Ronaldo or Zidane?

Always thought Ronaldo could have done with a visit to the dentist in the early part of his career.......

Well he's amazing now. It'd be shocking depressing if I was with him though, being with someone so perfect looking wouldn't do a body good.

Yeah Ronaldo has style - particularly liked that triangular haircut in 2002.

Should have seen him when he was in peak condition a few years ago.

I'd say the Germans and Argentinians don't mind either.

Two different types of player, very hard to compare.
I note my own here, Mr F. Totti scored twice last week.
Still got it.

No comparison is needed, two great footballers, and excelled in the roles they played. Very little comparison between Ronny Johnsen and Roberto Carlos but no doubting who is the greatest of those two. I would favour Ronaldo, who knows but for the injuries, he could have been the greatest ever? Or what might have been were it not for his convulsions the day of the France game.
For a year or so, when Totti was at his absolute peak, he was barely playable. But Pippo Inzaghi is the best Italy have produced in the last 16 years, in terms of attacking threats in my opinion. Knew how to celebrate a goal too.
