If only Boxty, no trip to Olympics for me. Having applied for everything and received nothing, I'll be boycotting what it sure to be a fiasco of a fortnight!
Besides, I'm envisaging several trips to our expensive capital city this summer to follow the Red Hands!

Big news in US Sport today, and the Indianapolis Colts have released their legendary quarterback, Peyton Manning. After 14 years as arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, Manning missed the whole of the last season due to injury and, with a $28m bonus owed to him next week, the Colts have decided not to take the chance on whether or not he will recover.
Manning will almost certainly sign for someone else, and will hopefully make the Colts regret their decision further down the line.
hes gone to the Denver Broncos on a 5 year deal worth $96million - ridiculous money and a bit of a gamble

As an outside call, I could see the Broncos sniffing around as well. Elway would relish the opportunity to work with Peyton, and Tebow could learn an awful lot from a season or two of watching Manning and being schooled by Elway.
Must see if I can manage a trip to the Mile High City this autumn!

Don't think it's that big a gamble, other than the move to trade Tebow away.
Elway clearly wasn't too keen on moving forward with Tebow as the starter, and a marquee signing like Manning was the only way the fans would accept Tim being removed.
There seems to be a hell of a lot of get-put clauses in the contract which cover Denver if Manning doesn't fully recover from his injuries. A 90% fit Peyton Manning is still better than all but 3/4 QBs in the NFL, and is certainly a big step up on Tebow.
If Manning turns out to be unable to play (which seems to be unlikely), the Broncos will only find themselves in the situation Elway wanted. He's rid of Tebow, and they can try to trade for a pocket passer to get them through the coming season.
The $96m isn't excessive if Peyton can perform at 90% of the level he did in Indy. The Broncos have a much better running game than the Colts ever did in the Manning era, and that should take a bit of the pressure (and a bit of defensive attention) away from Peyton. Fox will likely give Peyton similar levels of control as he had in Indy, and hopefully he will prove every bit as effective.

So the NBA playoffs kick off today. Wins for the Heat and the Bulls so far but the Bulls end the game with the news that D Rose has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the playoffs as well as missing the olympics. Horrible news for him and leaves the east very open for the Heat now.
Settling in to watch the Pacers and the Magic. Expect the Pacers to get it done in 5. Up by 10 in the first already.

Pacers 2-1 up against the Heat after a comfortable win last night. And still the US media is going with "what the Heat did wrong" rather than "what the Pacers did right"!!!
If the Pacers can take Sunday's game at home I think they are likely to take the series. Big if though.

Re: US Sports
Miami squared the series last night making it 2-2. You would expect them to push on from here but in the absence of Bosh, Lebron has found himself doing twice the work and he must surely be a bit knackered at this stage. Indy still well in this. Staying East and Celtics/ 76ers are also tied at 2-2. They play tonight in Boston and the C's experience in these playoff situation should see them through in the end.
Out West and having already swept Utah the juggernaut that is the San Antonio Spurs swept past the Clippers last night. Their on an 18 game winning streak at the moment, unreal. Their opponents in the Western Conference Finals are likely to be Oklahoma Thunder who currently lead the Lakers 3-1. I expect them to close out the series tonight on their home court and I can guarantee that it will not be 3 sweeps in a row for the Spurs in what promises to be a great Western Finals matchup, a classic case of experience vs potential.

Re: US Sports
It was meant to be! Thunder meet Heat on their home court tonight in the first game of the NBA Championship Finals. Kevin Durant vs Lebron James. Lebron has been unreal in the last few games but the last 2 times he's made the Finals he's disappeared and his team lost. Will history repeat itself? Im thinking yes! Thunder are young and fearless, their home court is the proverbial fortress and they do have homecourt advantage. In Kevin Durant they have a player who in many peoples eyes the equal, if not the better of Lebron. It's the Finals everyone wanted and should be one for the ages. I am calling it Oklahoma in 6!

Omar now in a global mandate checking in from TD gardens . Bruins blitzed in Bayern munichesque (1999) fashion.
Not sure if I can warm to a sport decided by goalmouth scrambles and the luck of a rebound r with of a goalies skate.
Crowd reaction interesting starts off with "can you believe that ****" no real concept of why or how and then moves on despite spending 500 Plus a seat.
To analogize if Donegal led by four v dubs after 69 minutes and lost in an AI final there woul be a day of mourning.
Anyway jog in the morning in Esplanade
