Actually there's no extra time...the flat 70 mins....The brace of Beirnes, big losses but the word defectors comes more readily ....
We're not all that fond of lads that scorn the Green and Gold....It's a privilege to be asked.....

I wonder why there was extra time last year but not this time? Berine's are troublesome but aren't they both injured at the moment?

They wouldn't be troublesome lad, just ordinary lads from a Junior club.
In the interim, awaiting the qualifiers last year, Tomás rang Moran from Dublin airport, pleading time-off from training..
When the airport tannoy called "Last call for Lanzarote for Mossy Beirne" into Moran's ear he was fooked....
The Beirnes are allright sorts.....

We managed our, by now traditional, 12 scores....Mercifully London only managed 9, albeit one green flag...
We avoided the ignomy of a defeat in Ruislip.
James Horan's position as Mayo manager is unlikely to come under threat in the short term....
If there's any more to add I can't find it....

Yeah will have to be a low scoring game v Mayo for Leitrim to stand a chance. Looking back at the last championship meeting Leitrim got within a point of Mayo & they went on to reach the All Ireland final.

Most would have said the same about Mayo last summer. London have improved no longer the whipping boys they deserve some credit.

Charity event..
The Fenagh club (St.Caillin's actually) are having a night tonight for the "Friends of Maedbh McGivern"....
Maedbh has made massive strides since her transplant, so far so, as she's dictating somewhat the schedule...**
Fenagh folk have been solidly behind her campaign and are happy to host a night like this....
**Yours truly, Boxtyeater, will be the MC for the night.....

It would be remiss of me here not to acknowledge some of last night's activities....
Aside from being a mighty night, with great spontaneity, 5 local clubs attended, throwing in €1k. per club...This may seem ludicrous to many, but the spirit of rural Ireland is still alive and well...
Dan's all too familiar rendition of "Micheál Mór" brought the house down.....

A mighty weekend in the welcoming West of Ireland....I'll start in reverse order as all top-notch events tend to:
3.The full cavalcade of the Boxty's descended upon chateau Boxty Friday evening, allegedly for the Graveyard Sunday (Today).
2. Boxtyeater and Sons (X 3) added their lusty voices in support of Leitrim in an epic in Pairc Seán yesterday evening,
1. A be-suited, if well shook, family of the Boxtys cut a fine dash as the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise dedicated a new graveyard in the parish this morning.....
I may have omitted the fact that the Dauber "donated" the acre....

Laois must be wondering what they did to upset the gods. Rather than a handy one versus Kildare, Tyrone or Kerry they get the short straw and a trip to Carrick to a team who have not lost a qualifier this year. The unseasonal weather is playing a blinder for Leitrim with training hours up and farm work hours down. The SFP might have to be paid by the 3rd week of September the way things are going.

Re: Leitrim 2012...All matters, agricultural and otherwise on this thread..
Monsoon-like weather predicted for Saturday evening. Unlikely to faze our lads, as we've had these climatic conditions for 2 months.
Laois on the other hand, will be un-accustomed to these type of gales and the hostility of the local Gaels will further un-nerve them.
Wayne Mac gone for 3 months, otherwise the camp are in middling fettle. We're 11/10 plus 4 which is about right. I haven't blown them up all year and feel it would put a jinx on them if I started now. The Manor Glancy will have to come near last Saturday's effort and the Laois backs will be punished by Mulligan for indiscretions. Shane Moran will start at midfield.
A crack at the Dubs is a worthy prize to fight for, so you can be assured we will give it our all.....

Re: Leitrim 2012...All matters, agricultural and otherwise on this thread..
Did I hear right that Ray Cox is the only married lad on the Leitrim panel???? What is going on down there. Is it a case of no women for the lads. Sure when you get the inter county jersey in other counties it opens all sorts of doors ... literally! Or are they an ugly group of lads ... surely they can't be that gruesome that they can't hook an ould farmer's daughter. Sure the farmers would be mad to get rid of them. Or maybe they are all waiting for these civil type things to be legalised. Either way at least the management need not fear the lads getting worn out before matches. And they call Roscommon the sheep stealers .....
Maybe that man of many wedding ceremonies, Boxty, could advise here.

When a lad says i play county as a chat up line, the ladies think it means he plays music in the lounge on a saturday Night

We're a very young side this year, a matter forced upon us by the economic climate, but yes, you are correct re; Ray Cox.
I'm unsure as to the rest of your point however. The married male heir to the mansion also had to wed outside the county and of the other two, well one of them has a penchant for those long-legged, voluptious Scandanavian blondes.....
Boxty was left open-mouthed on Saturday as yet another one appeared on the scene...Boxty gathers that they're plentiful enough around our nation's capital. She did however greet Boxty with a wonderful embrace which Nanny thought was somewhat OTT.
Boxty nearly went for the hip flask to soothe the heartbeats.....

Thanks for the effort Patsy. I gather we ran out of juice around the middle after 45 minutes. We did force Laois into 18 wides much like we did to Wickla the previous week, but the old Achilles heel, lack of scoring power let us down. We needed the Manor Glancy to repeat his previous week's heroics and it didn't happen.
We've restored a bit of pride in any event.
The plan should now be to fight our way out of Div 4 but even Bear Grylls would find it daunting.

Re: Leitrim 2012...All matters, agricultural and otherwise on this thread..
But sure if the lads aren't getting any then the long term prognosis is not good either. What you need is to get the buck to arrange for a few of these fit Scandinavian types - his discards and their friends - to re-locate to Liatroim. Property is cheap and there would be plenty of work doing home care for ould lads like yourself. Sooner (rather than later) the bairns will flow. We could be looking at a team of blond Leitrim minors, all 6'4" and built like Dolph Lundgren in a few years. A long term project but better that than the abyss ye are now staring into .....

Or as Dublin did breed with Kerry folk and hey presto Three Brogans,O'Sullivan,Connolly,Casey and a couple of more awaiting DNA results. Sam should have rested in the Kingdom for at least 6 months since September 2011.
