Leitrim 2014 - all matters of relevance here.
The priority for Leitrim this year will be promotion from Div 4 if we're to impact in the Hyde on May 18th.
The league programme looks a daunting task with a couple of tough away fixtures at the back end.
The fixture list is:
Sunday February 2nd: Carlow v Tipperary; Leitrim v Antrim; Waterford v Clare; Wicklow v London.
Sunday February 9th: Antrim v Wicklow; Clare v Leitrim; London v Carlow; Tipperary v Waterford.
Sunday March 2nd: Antrim v Waterford; Clare v Wicklow; Leitrim v Carlow; London v Tipperary.
Saunday March 9th: Carlow v Antrim; Tipperary v Clare; Waterford v London; Wicklow v Leitrim.
Sunday March 16th: Carlow v Wicklow; Tipperary v Antrim, Waterford v Leitrim; London v Clare.
Sunday March 30th: Antrim v London; Clare v Carlow; Leitrim v Tipperary; Wicklow v Waterford.
Sunday April 6th: Antrim v Clare; London v Leitrim; Tipperary v Wicklow; Waterford v Carlow.
Looking again at the draw, there's very few cast-iron results there for us, V Carlow being the only one.
It's all uphill, but a win over Antrim would be a start.

Antrim will be a tougher proposition this year than previously, with Baker Bradley back in charge. Leitrim have only 3 home games, and 2 of those are against arguably the top 2 teams in the division (Antrim & Tipp), so it's hard even to bank on 6 points at home. Promotion looks like a big ask.

Re: Leitrim 2014 - all matters of relevance here.
The defending FBD champions reach a 2nd successive final (next Sunday, Pairc Seán V Roscommon).
We recovered from a 6 point deficit at h/t to quarry out a draw against an out of sorts Sligo courtesy of a goal from Mossy Beirne and a plethora of points from Mulligan.
No cause to go wild at this stage. Good to see the forum represented so well in the 2 big finals next Sunday.

Some may laugh at this, but Conor Beirne has the potential to be a great full-forward. He has tremendous strength, good hands and accuracy. Granted he lacks pace, but it ain't easy hauling that frame around.
He offers an option that we have lacked since the heydays of Declan Maxwell and Michael McGuinness in that position ie. if in trouble horse it into the square......

Lovely article but lacking a solution to the problem it highlights, something everyone is aware of anyway!

There is no solution, other than the complete structural overhaul of the GAA.

Full time from Pairc Seán in the FBD final (Clash of the Titans)....
Liatroim: 2-05
Roscomáin: 1-07.
Goals by Aaron Hickey and John Mulligan (Mohill). The Rossies scuttle back across the bridge in disarray.
Next.....

Since the start of 2010, only Mayo have won more senior trophies in Connaught than Leitrim. On current form, you could even argue that Leitrim are now the No.1 side in the West. Mighty stuff!

Too true TC. We have what they lack, an invincible mentality when we get to a final.
We haven't been beaten now in a final since 1985. Says all about us really.
I'm off to boast a little to our more impoverished brethren.....

3rd year in a row Leitrim have beaten the Rossies in a FBD game, i bet they would swap those three wins for a championship win against them in May.

Need a win big time against Antrim?
Who are the key men for Antrim these days. Paddy Cunningham still playing? Whats McKeever like?
Fantastic result yesterday. Black card is going to kill teams like Leitrim who are lacking in depth. Thought brennans black card yesterday was terribly harsh.
Donal Wrynn looks like a terrific footballer. Who would have known such players still existed around fenagh!

Re: Leitrim 2014 - all matters of relevance here.
A win against Antrim will be a tough ask. Bradley will have them better than they were at anytime under Frank Dawson, and there is bound to be a bit of a come down for Leitrim after yesterday's heroics. Antrim will be very heavily focused on getting promotion, and I'm not sure that Leitrim will be dialled in to the same degree. Still, it's a long away trip for the Saffrons, and the first round of the league is notoriously hard to predict.

Any day you can spring the pocket dynamo Danny Beck on the BC issue isn't bad. He hasn't the physique of Brennan but compensates with hard yards.
Donal Wrynn has been touted here by me as far back as last Spring. He's more used to somewhere around the middle third area but given a decent run, avoiding a torching, should see him slot in well at 3.
A Bank Holiday in the general B'more/Fenagh area today.

Yeah spoke with a father of a DCU player during the week who had been at a few games. Spoke well of him. Very comfortable on the ball.
Something we've lacked at number 3 since JMck 's departure.
Don't think Mossie fit enough for sunday. Glancy inside probably.

Saw on twitter earlier that Mulligan has never played in CP. Suppose I shouldn't be surprised - lots haven't. Apparently he was saying that a league final is probably the only chance he has.
