sorry i hate to be disappointing.
Yeah I know, they just didn't play, absolutely terrible. Don't mean to detract from Porto, but Utd even when playing terrible clawed back into it and it was a very good second goal. First was a gift though and Porto probably deserved more.
Also, what is it about Utd that you hate. Everything is a bit much. Perhaps it's Ferguson, as you seem to fairly dislike him! To say everything about the club disgusts you seems a bit much, does that include their history? Or is it just recent success?

it may well be Ferguson. or possibly that a lot of the most arrogant, unsporting bigots I know are Man United fans - purely because they are good. it is this so-called 'glory supporting' that really annoys me. or perhaps having been a lifelong Liverpool supporter and having an entire family of Reds supporters for generations - i've just been brought up to hate them with a passion!

Yeah I had a notion you were a Liverpool fan funny enough! Sure it's only in your nature I suppose! Glad to say I'm not one of those glory-hunting fans you speak of, I got it off the family too, and this was in the 80's where being a glory-hunting fan would have meant being a Liverpool fan!
Anyway, enough about Utd, that's a night best forgotten about! Good result in the end for Arsenal, taking the away goal back to London, after a couple of early injuries. Good goal by Senna, even better one by Adebayor though, some skill!

mid-mon man wrote:Still reckon Utd can get another goal, it's coming. I'd fancy Utd to win in Porto anyway. Playing shocking though.
Arsenal may just be in a spot of bother if they don't get an away goal, Villarreal are a good team for a 0-0 draw, and if they get the 1-0 tonight Arsenal could be frustrated in the 2nd leg. Van Persie a big loss.
You'd better hope! As it stand Porto are going into the semis unless United pull their socks up.

Apologies but cheering against Man U comes second natuure to me. Don't worry I'll always be for Monaghan ( as long as they're not against Mayo...........or any team I like better)
Doesn't narrow it down much Lil, that could be most of the country! Do you like Laois better, or Derry for that matter?
No way! I like Monaghan, I don't know why. Monaghan would be my favourite northern team bar Donegal. Clare are my favourite southern team and I don't really have a favourite eastern team. So not Dublin though.
lol, the funny thing is those 2 teams are both south of the border!

Re: Champions League 2009
I would be seriously worried if I was the horse stealer. Teams regularly have a blip early or mid season and play their way through it. United - unusually - are hitting it now and hitting it bad. They were woeful against Inter and I reckon if the shot that hit the post and went back across goal had went in they may have conceded another and been dumped out. Then they bombed to the Pool and then mighty Fulham! They were blessed against Villa and their defence is playing with as much authority as a female student teacher in a male secondary school.
Their discipline is bad - they are ratty and it will take a serious effort to arrest this. Two trophies in the cabinet? Might be as good as it gets!

Ah well he'd probably spell my name wrong!! He didn't like it when I said about how articulate his typing was in Carl Jungs thread opposed to every other thread where it looks like he spills all his thoughs into his message usually not giving preference to which words should come first.lol
Also that was him you were talking about wasn't it?!

Re: Champions League 2009
Obviously at the end of the day it’s a game of two halves and Chelsea will set out their stall early doors but if Liverpool get about them and get the ball down the channels and score more goals they could nick it. The players will work their socks off and every blade of grass will be covered and as I say someone may even score from an impossible angle. It’s too tight to call but as long as football is the winner etc, etc, etc.

Re: Champions League 2009
I have a feeling liverpool are gonna clench this one. Liverpool have torres and steven gerard on their side, and even though didier drogba has been declared fit...i dont think that'll save Chelsea. Chelsea won in the semis last year, up until then Liverpool had the indian sign over Chelsea winning two semis with two stalemates between them.
