Nope. Born and reared in Bishopstown in Cork, where John was based. John Snr. played for Bishopstown.
Jon jnr played underage hurling and football for the club but went to Sunderland about 3 years ago. Captain of the Irish U-19's who did so well in Euro finals last summer. I also note that Brian Barry-Murphy at 34 years is still playing with Rochdale. Probably never heard of his ould fella Razz

John Snr was a Garda I think ???? Course I heard of Barry Murphy - he does Apres Match Razz

TC not sure JE owned that guesthouse - I think the JE that owned it was an Offaly man - and may have played for Offaly. I know it well - used to deliver a paper there back in the days!

And Kevin Kilmurray lived in a flat locally around the time he won Sams in 71 and 72!

Never knew that, and was always told it was Kerry's John Egan who owned it. Gullible Northerners still shelling out on '70s nostalgia - just another example of the smoke and mirrors that was the Celtic Tiger!

Loads of people under that myth TC .... not just Northerners!

Because I was beginning to question my own recollection and wondering was I going mad I just checked with my Offaly top man who informs me that John Egan (as in guesthouse fame) played in Offaly's losing All Ireland final team v Down in 61 and Kerry in 69 but was not on winning team in 71 and 72. Phew - am not going mad!

That is last weeks news. He made his debut against Derby in FA Cup last weekend.

Good to see that a number of that Under 19 squad from last summer making big strides. Both Forde and Doherty have made their EPL debuts for Wolves while Jeff Hendrick has been a regular for Derby.

While Robbie Brady wasn't taken to the Euro's but he has been excellent for Hull so far this season

Palace apparently looking for Paul McShane. Noel Hunt linked with WBA and Darron Gibson looks like he's heading to Goodison.
