Thomas Clarke wrote:A quick word of congratulations to Rory McIlroy on his back-to-back victories in the states. When added to his USPGA victory, McIlroy has won 3 of the last 4 tournaments, all against the very best of fields.
He is now well ahead at the top of the world rankings, and firmly cemented as the best golfer on the planet.
read somewhere that in the space of 7 days he won $2.8m, great work if you can get it!!!
He has now announced he feels more British than Irish, seems that he is testing the water for a reaction ahead of his obvious desire to represent team GB in Rio!!!!!
A whole load of nonesense if you ask me

Re: The Golf thread
Very poor form by RMD not to have a forum member on the course at Medinah to relay back vital nuggets of information to the Board.
This is particularly disappointing given that Thomas Clarke got the Olympic gig.....
I have it from another forum's "Man at Medinah" that the merchandising "tent" is as big as the Dundrum shopping centre and the Yanks are stocking up on sweaters etc. like there was no tomorrow. A Ryder Cup windbreaker sells for $75....Further non-golf news indicates about a dozen Brits in full Union Jack suits are wandering aimlessy around shouting "Team GB, Team GB".
Not to be outdone, there are 4 indigenous apes in Munster rugby shirts, alternating between forming imaginary scrums and engaging in "shouldering matches" while bawling the odd line of "The fields of Athenry."
Tiger Woods is the only golfer "wagless" I'm informed.....Probably has 3 tied up in the hotel suite...
USA to win by 2 points is the Boxty nap.

Never underestimate Omar's ability to appear amongst the wealthy.
I also think that the States will win this time round, and it could be by more than 2 points. They look strong from 1-12, with most of their side showing good recent form.
Europe will get points from the big names (McIlroy, Donald, Westwood), but they need some of the good middle order men to find their best form too (GMac, Kaymer, Poulter, Garcia, Rose). As goes that second group, so goes Europe.
But USA minus 4.5 points at 11/4 has some appeal.

Omar suffering from psd ( post session depression)
Plus equinox syndrome the time of year when you have gone OTT on amateur Gaa commitment and have not yet acclimatised to overpaid c??ts and their Porsche cayennes - as I spot one of the biggest cn?ts on main news
Takes till next equinox - knock out champions league, cheltenham and US masters, five nations and euphoria will have swung full circle.
Omar looking for a gaa offseason boot camp austerity Rather than quaffing at compo sporting events

Re: The Golf thread
hard to listen to that McDowell or GMac or whatever title he goes by, comes across as a bit of a tool.
Listening to an interview the other day and he went on and on about The Wee Man (referring to McIlroy) - has it ever crossed his mind that he is no fooking giant himself!!!!
Given there are no Irish men on the team I doubt if i will watch much of this

I must admit to being a fan of McDowell - I like his attitude, and the way he carries himself. Plus, if I recall correctly, he is a mate of Omar's.

I played with him in a Pro-Am back when the tiger (the celtic one) had claws. He was corteous
chatted freely to all players on the way around -Signed balls (and handed out a few freebies) for any of the spectators that approached between green and tee and Offered a few tips - encouragement etc. and joined us for a beer in the bar.
Accent aside I found him very pleasant company
I played in a similar event with another major winner (not Irish (or Northern Irish even)) who turned up late and and spent the day muttering and grumbling to his caddy. so by the only benchmark I have he was a gent.

I take it the invite from Gweedore in-laws to come up and see SAM was seen as a bit Upstartadly in the RKF household.

Unreal stuff from Rose, and Poulter incredible in all his matches.
Still advantage Uncle Sam though. Westwood, Kaymer, Sergio and Molinari all need to come home strong.
