Armagh - success in staying in the crc
Mayo - winning the nrc
Tipp - defending the all ireland
dub - make the semis

My own county antrim i think to reach league final, gonnna be tough with clare and limerick but do able, to make the quater finals at least again of the liam mccarthy anf hopefully our club champs can make a paddies day final.

Dublin - a good run in the league and beating at least two 'traditional' hurling counties in the C'ship.

Re: What would spell success for your county 2011
We have a very tough league this year 3 home games against Cats/Tipp/Galway and the rest away so i guess staying in Div 1 is a must for Dublin hurling..would like us to find a half forward line that wins ball..We really have to start winning more games in the championship...
We've been building for a few years now,we have a good mixture of youth and experience its time to get to the next level..
Stay in div 1..Reach the last 8 and give a good account of ourselves ..

Fair play mossy galway should have about 3/4 all irelands by now given their under 21 and minor record!
They should have beaten tipp last year too, i was at it.

Yeah that was as tough a defeat as it gets. The bounce of the ball went Tipp's way in the end but you right, Galway should have won it. In fairness to Tipp they improved beyond recognition as last Summer went on. It was great to see all the Antrim heads in Croker that day NSG, just like the olden days

For me, a provincial double would be the minimum expectation.
For others, the footballers to not get relegated 3 years running and perhaps reaching a Leinster final are not a preposterous aims.
For the hurlers to beat Carlow next summer would be the very best we could hope for. Although, according to a recent poll from RTE sport (Viewable here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) WH are overwhelming favorites to win Liam apportioning 26.68 % of the vote.

For the hurlers, to enter the Championship would be a huge success.
For the footballers, a league campaign unearthing a few new decent players and maybe getting the Gaels lads to commit, promotion would be a big boost but I think it's doubtful. In the Championship beating Antrim/Donegal would be as far as we could hope to get in Ulster.. Winning 2/3 championship games between front and back door would be a successful year.

Yes mossy that day did feel like the old days, we gave a good account of ourselves and the galways folk just like the old days where due on in the main event after, but just like the old days they wer in early to support us as we do them in the main game. Hopefully more to come like it, a win for one of us would be nice next time though or both of us
Aye JS i read the report from the county secretary, i think they should enter, and they need some form of minor team, maybe its time for cavan to approach the neighbouring weaker counties to look at amalgamation team for the championship, ive mentioned this in another thread so wont get into it, but i know cavan are doing a fair bit at underage with hurling, be nice for these kids to have something to aspire to.

Winning division 2.....anything else will be a disaster.....
Couldn't care less how we go in the championship but for our fortunes in the next few years we need to be playing division 1 hurling in 2012 and onwards

Re: What would spell success for your county 2011
I'd deem it a successful year if we:
1. Got rid of Mickey Moran.
2. Escaped from Div. 4.
3. Beat Roscommon in anything.
4. I'm taking it as a gimme that we'll overcome Sligo in the 1st. round....

Re: What would spell success for your county 2011
Hurlers,
Hold our own in the league, and correct the disappointing performances of last year.
Put a run together in the Rackard and hopefully challenge for the title this year.
Footballers,
For the league I would be massively shocked if we managed to secure a 3-in-a-row. A few wins and a solid mid-table finish in Div. 2 would be seen as quite a good return.
In terms of the Championship, a Connacht title is the hope. Should have won it last year, but the players were weighed down by some oversized heads. Hopefully will be a bit wiser this year.
Failing in Connacht, need to reach the quarters through the Qualifiers for the season to be considered in any way successful/

Re: What would spell success for your county 2011
A win in the Championship would be an improvement on last year. A Munster final isn't being realistic. I'd say the best Clare can hope for is to get out of the qualifiers, and even that might be pushing it!
Under 21s, on the other hand, could have a serious year!

Beating Galway with 14 men is a nice start to the year! Walsh Cup final - and maybe the Cats .. interesting!

1. Cavan don't have a hurling team..
2. Knowing Tyrone lost to Dublin will probably give the Cavan lads some confidence before Saturday week's game.
