Mike Edwards hay bale death: celebrities in freak killings
The former member of the band the Electric Light Orchestra, Mike Edwards, has been killed by a giant hay bale which rolled out of a field and landed on his van as he drove. Happened Monday.
Here are some other unusual deaths involving high-profile people.

Rod Hull: The entertainer's death was slightly bizarre and tragic at his inquest in 1999. East Sussex Coroner Alan Craze recorded a verdict of accidental death six weeks after Mr Hull died following a fall from the roof of his home at Winchelsea, near Rye. A pathologist who examined his body found the entertainer's judgement may have been impaired by alcohol when he went on to the roof to adjust his aerial during a football match. Michael Parkinson, the former chat show host, had a with Hull's mischievous puppet Emu came after it wrestled him to the ground and started eating his shoes during an interview more than 33 years ago.

Michael Hutchence
: The former INXS singer and songwriter was found dead in a Sydney hotel room in 1997. The 37-year-old's body was discovered hanged in a room in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. He was the closest Australia has come to producing a bad boy of rock. He had been preparing for INXS's 20th anniversary tour when he died. He was a tabloid staple, whose affairs with Kylie Minogue and Helena Christiansen were only eclipsed by his passionate involvement with Paula Yates, who was the mother of his 15-month-old daughter Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily. She was married to Sir Bob Geldof.

Harry Houdini: Until his sudden death in 1926, Houdini delighted in ridiculing the powers of mediums and their claims to be able to contact the dead. It earned him the antipathy of the spiritualist movement, including its most famous devotee, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who believed spirits would claim the showman and wrote two years before Houdini's death in 1926 that he would "get his just deserts very exactly meted out". The escape artisty was punched in the stomach by an amateur boxer who had heard that Houdini could withstand any blow to his body above his waist, excluding his head. Despite being undertaken with his permission, complications caused him to die days later, on October 31. It was later determined that Houdini died of a ruptured appendix. Death Defying Acts, a $20m biopic of the magician was made starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Guy Pearce.

Brandon Lee: The 28 year-old son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee was shot and killed by blank firing gun while filming the Hollywood film, The Crow in 1993. A malfunction of the revolver had earlier gone unnoticed by the crew and the same gun was used again later to shoot the death scene. His death was not instantly recognized by the crew or other actors; they believed he was still acting. The film's final scenes were shot using a digital version of the star. His father died aged 32 exactly 20 years earlier while shooting Game Of Death. He died of a cerebral edema - swelling of the brain - on 20 July 1973 in Hong Kong, a month before his Hollywood debut, Enter the Dragon, was released in the US.

Steve Irwin: The effervescent Crocodile Hunter died as he lived — getting perilously close to lethal and exotic creatures while performing in front of the camera in 2006. His native Australia was plunged into a state of shock after Irwin - a "bloody good bloke" - was killed by a stingray barb to the heart while being filmed snorkelling off Queensland. Irwin was famous for grappling with "salties", or saltwater crocodiles, in his khaki shorts and safari shirt. He collapsed after being stung by the ray off the Low Isles, a clutch of sand cays near Port Douglas in the tropical north.

Owen Hart: The Canadian WWF wrestler was killed during a televised WWE event in Kansas City in 1999 as a stunt went wrong during the show. He plunged to his death from the rafters of the arena when a harness failed to lower him safely into the ring. Martha Hart, his widow, in June accused the company of continuing to profit from his death despite assurances they wouldn't.

And:

The Bassanga football team: Every player on the team were killed by a bolt of lightning which left the other team unhurt. Thirty other people received burns at the match in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two sides were drawing 1-1 in the match in eastern Kasai Province when the lightning struck the visiting team.
