Off For the Summer.
So the Dail is in recess til the 29th of September.
Does anyone else think it is absolutely ridiculous to give a bunch of adults 3 months off so as they can enjoy the summer?

It's an absolute disgrace. This is just an escape from pressure and questioning by the oppostion. They should do what Sinn Feins Caoimhghin O Caolain said, dissolve the Dail.

Re: Off For the Summer.
It's naive to think they are going on holidays. Most of them will take the same few weeks off as most people and will be working the rest of the time. Over the years I've heard most people give out about politicians but I've yet to meet anyone who didn't admit that they all tend to put in savage hours.
This idea that by taking a 12 week break, they will no longer be held accountable is a load of bollocks too. What accountability have Labour and FG brought to the govt over the last 10 years?
IMO this is a 12 week period where some things may actually get done (like for example the budget that will save 3 billion?) without the farsical scenes that are the trademark of the Dail.
Let me summarise .... the govt will be as bad over the next 12 weeks as they were over the last 12 only at least we won't have to listen to policy-less opposition "shadow-cabinet" members preach about how they would do a much better job.
